Cheap vinyl floor

We've ripped up the carpet in the dining in the new house. We will put solid oak down but need to add a downstairs toilet extension first. So I'm on the lookout for the cheapest flooring I can find (that's not totally hideous) for the interim. Would this be a roll of vinyl? Any ideas where to start? Thanks

The stuff on a roll in the carpet shop to buy and take away is likely to be cheapest. Is the floor solid or floorboards? The floor might need ply putting down before vinyl, but it's not particularly expensive. You might find something of better quality isn't much more expensive tbh. Or you could get a large rug - IKEA have a huge range of sizes, styles and materials - or an offcut of carpet you can use like a huge rug. It depends how much your care about how it looks and how long you're going to have to live with it.

Thanks. I want something I can mop (3 under 5s in a dining room!). At the moment there are some old lino tiles on concrete so I was hoping to just whack something down on top of that!

Cheap vinyl then. Can you post a photo of the old tiles? Some contain asbestos (low risk level usually) and if they are damaged, you should think about covering them over asap.

They look to me like they may well contain asbestos so don't, whatever you do, try to take them up without getting them tested first and taking proper precautions as necessary. You can lay vinyl over the top. Are any of them damaged?

Yes, and I have a crawling baby! Glad you asked. Better order some cheap vinyl then!

Burts flooring do cheap vinyl.

Not an expert, but my work involves asbestos compliance issues & agree with wow here. Don't touch without an asbestos report & cover with cheap roll without disturbing as a precaution. If it's temporary it won't matter so much about levelling etc just don't disturb what is currently down.

Depending on the size you may be able to get offcuts if vinyl in flooring shops.

It's 3m x 3m and the cheapest I can find online plus delivery is about £60. Will ppst the one I go for in case others are looking.
