How much to charge to include American fridge freezer

Does anyone know how to work out the value of a second hand fridge/freezer? We have an American fridge freezer which cost £800 new less than 2 years ago, how much is a fair price to offer it to our purchasers for? I've looked on eBay and Gumtree but can't find any similar models (John Lewis own brand).

I think the JL badged fridge freezers are/were made by Electrolux if that helps. My gut feeling is £500 or less though. If they don't buy it, would you take it with you? Is it the case that they've expressed an interest in it?

HarryPlotter · 16/02/2019 17:46

I would feel that you can ask for a token amount (£250) only. They are saving you the cost of re homing your fridge!

Obviously if they have begged you for it and you will buy an identical model because otherwise you would have brought it with you well then ask £400.

greenelephantscarf · 16/02/2019 17:52

to leave in the house?
150 at the most tbh.

I think it’s hard to get a lot of money for furniture/ appliances online. Even if they are good brands / good condition. They are large bulky objects which are a pain to transport and with appliances in particular people like the peace of mind of a guarantee. Good luck OP.

Sorry just realised you’re selling to your home buyer. Price depends on whether they want/need it or just whether you don’t!

Tomtontom · 16/02/2019 17:55

There are several in the completed items. They sell for £100 - 200.

AntiHop · 16/02/2019 17:55

When we moved the people we bought off wanted us to buy their fairly new washing machine. Even though we needed one, we were reluctant as it was out of its guarantee period. I would have been willing to pay a quarter of its value. They wanted more so we refused.

miltonroad · 16/02/2019 17:59

200 max

Stylinit · 16/02/2019 18:29

We sold ours (via fb) for £100. We had inherited it on buying the house & it was defunct once we’d redone the kitchen.

Second hand appliances really don’t sell for much.

Heratnumber7 · 16/02/2019 18:31

What would you do with it if they don't buy it off you?

Sukochicha · 16/02/2019 18:44

Absolute max £200

I’d probably only pay £150

BigRedBoat · 16/02/2019 18:58

They have expressed an interest in buying it, it has panels built around it so if they bought their own they would need to get one the exact same size. I'm not particularly trying to make money off of it I just feel it's a bit of an expensive item to leave for free. I would take it if they didn't want it, it would fit (somewhat awkwardly) into our new house but we plan on extending and redoing the kitchen in a couple of years and I would definitely want an American fridge freezer again (so much space). We will need to buy a new standard fridge freezer or negotiate with our vendors about leaving theirs so I just want to cover the cost of that really.

Are the dimensions non-standard? Tbh I'd price it fairly high if you could take it with you and have plans to change the kitchen in your new place.

Kamma89 · 16/02/2019 19:25

Doubt you'll get much. Appliances don't hold value really, even if you paid a lot & it was recent buyers won't view it the same way. From all the details you've given maybe £200 max

Felicia4 · 16/02/2019 19:29

We recently bought a second hand American fridge freezer with an ice maker for £150 including delivery. No scratches or damage.

ManxomeFoe · 16/02/2019 19:31

We bought our big american-style fridge for £160 from the previous house owners, it was 3 years old.

foggyuplands · 16/02/2019 19:35

200 is the max I would expect to pay, assuming you didn't just list it in fixtures and fittings.

WinterHeatWave · 16/02/2019 19:35

I'd price up how much a standard, basic if it's only going to have to last 3 years, fridge freezer, and tell them you will either take it, or leave it for the replacement cost in your new kitchen.

PersonaNonGarter · 16/02/2019 19:37

£100-150

Letthemysterybe · 16/02/2019 19:38

Do your buyers have a standard fridge freezer that they can swap ?!

BigRedBoat · 16/02/2019 19:42

Letthemysterybe they are renting so I don't think they have any appliances.

I'll look into the cost of a cheap fridge freezer for our new place, that's a good suggestion. I don't want to be grabby but I don't want to be too out of pocket either.
