Any one used a Sofa Sofa sofa?

Whoa, that's a lot of sofas...

I'm in London so can't pop into their showroom but they seem to get good reviews on here and the prices are very competitive compared to other places we've looking (sofa.com, sofa and stuff). Are they too good to be true?

Would love to hear of anyone's experiences with them and in particular, if anyone has the Poppy (Or Bari, or positano or Agatha - those are the others I'm interested in). Are they comfortable, and do you have any pics of them "in the wild"? I'm particular curious about side views as the website on shows them face on.

Realise this is a long show, but hoping mumsnet can steer me towards a decision. thanks

Sofa sofa is few companies together.
They include Kirkdale. They are traditionally made in Wales.

My mum got one 20 years ago and still going strong. The one I got 19 years ago and gave away to a friend when I changed colour scheme but it is still going strong.

They make well made sofas, good quality at great prices. I don't work for them. If I get another sofa, it will come from one of their companies.

They do some with removable covers also.

I have a Mezzo sofa and armchair from Sofasofa. They are now 11 years old and still going strong. If you want something that's long-lasting I wouldn't go with a sofa with hollow fibre seat cushions. My parents had one and it was very uncomfortable after a few years. Foam seat cushions are firmer but seem to last longer.

minesanespresso · 11/02/2019 17:21

I’ve has several sofas from them. Oldest is 13 years old & still going strong. Comfortable, well made & great value for money. Currently have Laura Ashley sofas, which were considerably more expensive but no where near as comfortable. They do a 21 day home trial where you can return cost free if you’re unhappy.

CommanderShepard · 11/02/2019 17:23

I have the Scala sofabed from them; bought 7 years ago and still looks lovely (opted for saddle leather and it's softening up beautifully as it ages. My only complaint is that the seat cushions slide off easily but that's a proper first world problem.

Every so often they do (or at least used to do) a trade exhibition in Hammersmith; that's where we saw them. We're having an extension in the near future and I'm planning to buy either the Albany or the Newport to go in the playroom.

Weirdly, I have a 2str Agatha in my kitchen and a 2str Bari in one of my bedrooms. Both are used occasionally, both have the fabric protection on them. They’re about 6mo old, both are ageing well.

The Agatha is in pale grey velvet (Graphite?) and in a very sunny part of the house. The upholstery is holding up well and it is v comfortable. Obviously we haven’t had it through summer yet, so I can’t tell you how it copes with sun fading but so far, so good. It looks and feels much more expensive than it was.

The Bari was cheaper by a couple of hundred £ and the seat cushions and much firmer. It isn’t as comfortable but seems well made and is good value for the little I paid for it (I think it was about £350).

The company were great to deal with. Enough emails to know what was going on but not so many that I felt harassed or spammed. Delivery lead times were fine too, I think about 6 weeks. They were true to the quoted lead times too. No complaints and I’d buy from them again.

In contrast, I bought a sofa bed for my study from Made.com, a couple of months ago (we’ve recently moved house) and it was a right pain in the arse. Delivery took longer than stated and the sofa, whilst very pretty, broke the first time it was slept on. Had to return it for a refund (also a pain as we’d thrown the packaging away and made stipulated that we neeeded to return it packaged up - how do you pack up a sofa bed?!).

donajimena · 11/02/2019 17:35

Yes. Really well made and I've had them for 16 years.

Flyingsouthwiththeswallows · 11/02/2019 19:20

Thanks for your thread OP. I am currently running around looking at Sofas for my very empty new house and haven't heard of SofaSofa.

If you want more choice of materials have you looked at Arlo & Jacob. I visited this weekend and was very impressed with both the styles and fabric options.

CharBart · 11/02/2019 19:25

Yes, sofa sofa are great. We have a 14 yr old sofa bed still going strong and our main sofa is one of theirs bought a year ago(Montana I think). Definitely get the more expensive cushion filling for a firmer seat. Service is very good.

NotMeNoNo · 11/02/2019 19:29

Sitting on it now! It's one of the Thomas Lloyd leather ones but they don't do it any more. I would really recommend the company.

viktoria · 12/02/2019 22:29

We had a sofa sofa sofa (I enjoy typing that!) which we bought 17 years ago when our first child was born. We wanted a sofa which we didn't need to be too precious about and were planning to "upgrade" after a few years.
We did finally buy a new sofa last year (which we like) - but we all still miss our old sofa which was VERY comfortable.
Great company.

PopGoesTheWeaz · 12/02/2019 23:14

Thanks for all the great reviews. We are now leaning towards the Agatha as I want something with a relatively short back. Have ordered a bazillion fabric samples to see what they look like in our light. Very excited.

Would never buy from anywhere else, Excellent service, lovely sofas that last for years. I have just donated my first 2 sofas from them which I bought 20 years ago to the local charity furniture shop, they are loose covered ones and honestly they still look fab, I just got bored of the style, I have a leather sofa from them in my kitchen which is over 10 years old and looks pristine, 2 leather sofas in the family room about 5 years old now, still look great and I have just recently bought 2 Chesterfields from them for my living room and they look stunning! Can’t recommend them highly enough.

Lucisky · 13/02/2019 08:41

We had one (now rehomed!). They were very good to deal with, excellent with the delivery and the sofa was lovely. Best of all it was a loose covered one and extra loose covers were available at a very reasonable price. I think they offer very good value for money.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 13/02/2019 08:44

We have a 3 year old leather chesterfield from them, it still looks brand new. Annoying actually because I like the worm in look, but I can't fault the quality Grin.

BringMeTea · 14/02/2019 09:29

Hmmm. We have recently bought from them and I think the quality is poor. Compared to the sofa dot com sofa we have they are leagues below. They were however, cheap so I guess it is a case of you get what you pay for. I would not buy from them again.

EntirelyAnonymised · 14/02/2019 09:43

I have a much more expensive pair of sofas in my main living room and they are much heavier than the sofa sofa ones. I suspect the sofa sofa ones we have won’t age as well as them but they aren’t used as much, they’re much more ‘occasional seating’ and so it doesn’t matter so much.

Plus, people seem to change their sofas with their decor now, so I guess longevity isn’t so much of a factor.

PopGoesTheWeaz · 16/02/2019 11:26

Intriguing development! Two non happy purchasers. Can I ask entirely and bring me tea what models you bought? I wonder if the quality varies according to the line of sofa as even though they are all cheaper than say sofa workshop, within their choices there seems to be a range of prices.

EntirelyAnonymised · 16/02/2019 12:08

pop, I posted twice. I am happy with my sofas but I do acknowledge that they aren’t as high quality/heavy as the more expensive ones we have. I can move the sofa sofa ones on my own, but the other ones need two people (even the arm chair is bloody heavy!). That is reflected in the price though and it doesn’t matter to us as the sofa sofa ones we have are for occasional use rather than main living areas.

I have the Agatha & the Bari.

BringMeTea · 16/02/2019 15:49

Hi OP. We have the Montana and Positano. Both are 'fine' though the colour of the Montana was not as shown which was irritating. I don't hate them but they do feel a bit cheap. Also got a footstool for the Montana which just dips completely in the middle if you sit on it. Overall it's definitely a case of getting what you pay for.

PopGoesTheWeaz · 16/02/2019 21:34

Thanks guys. That really helps. I mean, I'm still unable to make up my mind but at least I have more realistic expectations. Smile

Anyone still on this thread? I have just received my two Agatha sofas and find them really uncomfortable! The back curves and sticks in my back and the back is really low...reviews on this sofa seem good...is it just me?

Shinyandnew1 · 20/07/2025 17:21

I know this is a really old thread but we are looking at the Mezzo from SofaSofa and was wondering if anyone on here still had it and how comfortable it is? It's so hard to buy something without seeing it or sitting on it!!
