Log Burner and Selling House

TulipsfromAmsterdam · 10/02/2019 19:45

We had a log burner fit a few years ago and the qualified fitter said he needed to make/supply a plaque of some kind. He never did and we forgot about it.
We have just accepted an offer to sell but wondering what the lack of this plate will have on sale if we can’t contact fitter. Would an indemnity policy cover it? Thanks

Hetas is the body that oversees the correct fitting of woodburner. Was the fitter hetas registered? If so, he should have given you the correct documentation which would satisfy a buyer. I have never heard of a plaque for this...doesn't sound correct to me. Are you in the uk though?

Was it for a vent maybe?

Is this what you mean? We got given them for the two log burners we had installed nearly a year ago. I don't recall that we got one for the log burner we had installed 5 years ago. When we sold the house we provided a copy of the HETAS certificate.

We've got a plaque in a cupboard next to the stove, and a certificate from Hetas as well. I think having the plaque was part of the sign off.

We have a plaque in the cupboard under the stairs by the electricity meter. Could it be hiding somewhere like that?

Thanks for replies. I will check the paperwork he left. He was HETAS qualified.
