Karndean flooring

Does anyone have this, or much experience of Karndean flooring? We'd like parquet flooring in our kitchen and dining room when the kitchen is redone but I'd also like to run it through our hallway to our sitting room as the flooring in there is damaged and I like the look of flooring that flows from room to room. My DH is onboard with the idea of parquet, but we can't agree on which kind. I saw a porcelain tile type but he says he'd prefer not to as it'll be cold underfoot but I need to persuade him that Vinyl (with all its connotations of lino) won't look bad. Obviously real wood would normally be the way to go but I'm not sure that's the best idea for a kitchen or in front of a dishwasher or washing machine?

goldierocks, can I please ask where you got your online deal from? Thank you

I have had Karndean in my hall, downstairs bathroom & kitchen. It has been wonderful, worn well & easy to clean Grin

I use Ecover multi purpose cleaner (lemon one Wink) after hoovering dust & dirt!

Hi @MiniCooperLover

I got mine from Lifestyle - the service was friendly & quick, can't fault them. I also got my Amtico (bathroom) floor from there too.

My fitter says to beware of fakes - he's turned down jobs where the people have thought they've purchased Karndean/Amtico, when (to him) it's clearly an inferior far-east knock off. He won't risk future faults being put down to him!

Mine contends with a sporty teen & two lively young cats in addition to a team of builders. Not a single mark!

goldierocks, that's almost £20 cheaper per square metre. You had no worries about it's condition, definitely Karndean? If so that's a great deal, thank you.

We've just had Moduleo put down in the kitchen and are very pleased with it. Not cheap but very good quality. Fitting was a two step process - on day one they put a very thin layer of screed all over the floor, let it dry, then came back the next day to lay the tiles.

Hi @MiniCooperLover

Personally, I couldn't tell the real stuff from a fake if I was hit over the head with it! My fitter (+20 years experience) told me it was the real deal, that was good enough for me!

Before I put in my big order, I got samples direct from Karndean & Lifestyle, they were identical. It's been down about five months now. All my visitors have thought it's real wood.

I should probably add that I'm not affiliated with them in any way, I just love a bargain Smile

We had it in our old house, it was brilliant. Only thing is that we couldn't hoover it, as the hoover would leave scratches, so brush or mop. But that was fine. It was clean, warm and bouncy too (had a toddler at the time), we much preferred it over the carpet we had prior to Karndean. What area are you in? I can recommend someone who put it in for us. It took a week (incl ripping up old floor, putting coating and glue in etc etc), but well worth it.

Thank you all, that's so helpful. We are in Essex.
