Hi

I am about to buy a house with a 3.65m x 3.33m new conservatory.

Just wondering if anyone could recommend how I can make this warm enough to use throughout the year. Please advise if you have done anything that's help to warm your conservatory from furnishing, blinds/curtains, flooring, heaters, roof insulation etc. I cannot afford to knock it down and build an extension for sometime, so I'm looking for reasonably low-cost ideas.

Thanks in advance

what's the roof made of?

Hi Tadpole
Our conservatory has pleated roof blinds with a reflective coating and vertical blinds around all the windows and doors. Both really help with heat retention during the cold months and to keep a pleasant temp on sunny warm days. Is there any heating in there? If not, maybe you could get a radiator run into there from the room next to it.

Our conservatory is a similar size and has 2 radiators and is pretty much the same temperature as the rest of the house, just loses heat quicker at night when the heating goes off.

It has just one radiator in it.

One radiator is not enough. The conservatory looks quite big so get another radiator put in. Or get a plug in one. There isn’t anything cheap that will make much difference. We have underfloor heating in ours and that’s the only solution, if you have the money. However it’s best to rebuild! Reduce the glazed area for insulated walls.,
