Washing machine in open plan kitchen/dining/living room

Does anyone have an integrated washing machine in an open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen? If so is it really loud and annoying? We have viewed a house with this set up and love everything about it except the lack of utility room. The lounge is round a corner from the kitchen so I'm thinking it might not be too bad? I think I'd put a tumble dryer in a shed in the garden so it's just the washing machine that's an issue.

@BigRedBoat we have this set up. Washing machine in kitchen tumble dryer in shed. No problems :)

We had to buy a new quieter model of washing machine as old one drove us mad! Fine if you use it in the day or morning etc. Just not when you want to relax or an evening

No, when we redesigned our downstairs we built a utility room, I wish we had put the dishwasher in there too!

We have a washing machine (and dryer) in a utility room but have the dishwasher in the open plan kitchen diner. We have a super duper quiet model but have resorted to only running it once we've gone to bed as it still disturbs us when we're watching TV. There is no way I'd want the washing machine in there. Can you hive off part of the room to create a utility - doesn't have to be particularly big (look at pinterest) but think you're right to be concerned and factor some sort of works / rejigging into any offer you make.

We have open plan living / dining / kitchen. Kitchen is round the corner slightly. We have all our appliances in there and it's fine. I do tend to run the machine overnight if possible but it's not too bad. We got an LG that is quiet. The tumble is louder but tolerable. It's a Bosch condenser. The dishwasher (also Bosch) you cant hear at all. I think your floor coverings make a difference. If all hard then it might be more echoey. We have hard flooring in kitchen and carpet in lounge.

I’ve got studio flat so no choice, but no problems. Worse thing is having to put the TV up if urgent plot details on a spin cycle. But normal wash can’t really notice

ColdFingered · 04/02/2019 12:54

We have a utility, but we have the washing machine on a timer, for cheap electricity overnight.

We do. We're building an extension for a utility room as soon as we can afford it. Even the new, quieter washing machine we bought last week is too noisy over the TV.

Find the quitest model you can have, the difference between a 41dB and a 51 dB counts.

BigRedBoat · 04/02/2019 14:59

Thanks everyone, bit of a mixed view! I'm not sure if they're including the one that's there or if we'll have to buy our own, I think I could manage to just wash when we're not sitting down to watch tv as long as the tumble dryer was elsewhere. There isn't anywhere else to put a proper utility room unless we lost the downstairs toilet which I don't really want to do with 2 small children.

I have got an integrated washer/dryer in a big kitchen diner. It’s fine .... we just don’t put the washing machine on if it is just before lunch or dinner.

‘Quiet mark’ is actually a thing, look at the noise level in dB and look for ‘Quiet mark’ appliances.

We often have to pause tv on the spin cycle but you don’t really notice the normal wash after a while
