Can a shower be put into a toilet/sink room in a flat?

We are seeing a 1960s flat tomorrow. The flat is on the third floor. There are 4 floors in this block of 14 flats.

It currently has one bathroom and an additional room with a toilet and basin only.

Given that it actually will fit in is it definitely going to be possible to add a shower to this small room? I'm wondering this because of it being a flat and plumbing issues.

I'm hoping you will all say 'I can't see any reason why it wouldnt be possible'.
Thank you.

I can't see why it would be a problem but it will depend on where the hot water is, boiler pressure etc though I'm guessing there is already a sink in there so hot water? If the pressure is ok I can't see why it would be an issue, but I'm sure a more knowledgeable poster will come along soon.

you could install a wet room (like in a caravan or house boat) but to do so is pricey as you would need to tank the room first to avoid leaks.

If it physically fits, then yes. The bathroom will already have water coming in and out for the taps and loo.

Just think of the shower as a massive tap, and you know you can have taps in the room!

The boiler type and location will be worth noting so you can discuss with a fitter to make sure the shower will have good pressure.

You could have a shower cabin, which is freestanding all in one and saves a lot of worries over leaks, but you still need drainage under and cold water/electric supply to the shower itself.
If you need to move the toilet you also need to think about getting the 4inch waste pipe back to the soil stack. There's only a certain amount of length and turns you can have or things can get messy and stinky.

Thank you all.

It sounds like it will be possible with money, and would make the flat closer to what we want.

you can get a plumber in to give an estimate of how feasible it would be & how much it would cost before you purchase it

Good idea. Thanks.
