Range cookers-everytime I pick one I read the reviews and change my mind

I currently have a Leisure Cookmaster.

I am not impressed. Am replacing after 5 years. AO.com reviews for this oven are worryingly good and not my experience. Cheap plastic handles broke constantly, seal did not fit properly, finish is bubbled all over, fan so noisy you couldn't hear yourself speak over it etc etc.

I want a duel fuel 100cm range cooker. Was looking at Bellling and Rangemaster but can't commit due to conflicting reviews.

Budget flexible but was thinking around £1500.00

Help! All reviews and feedback-pros and cons gratefully appreciated!!

And did not mean to make that hyperlink-slightly sinister that by typing company name it turns into a hyperlink... Hmm

We had the leisure cook master 101 gas for three years and it was rubbish. First the left side stopped working then a few months later the right. When we went to change the element in the right side it didn’t work and the grill and hobs then never worked again either.
We now have a rangemaster 110 gas oven and it’s brilliant. Not only does it look so much better in our kitchen but it’s easier to clean due to the better quality materials and works well.
Definitely worth looking at in my opinion.

I had originally planned to have an Aga or a Rangemaster but decided against it. Aga was off the list due to running costs , and I did not like the Rangemaster when I went to see it at the showrooms. It felt cheap and the ovens were smaller than I thought .
I have now decided on an induction hob , with a built under oven and warming drawer. Kitchen not done yet BTW.
Good luck with your choice.

I have a Rangemaster, I've been very pleased with it and the quality is high.

CoperCabana · 29/01/2019 11:26

I love my Rangemaster.

Brugmansia · 29/01/2019 11:29

We have a dual fuel rangemaster nexus. K it's great, had it for 3 years. It's one of their higher end ones and feels really solid compared to some off their others that i saw.

higgyhog · 29/01/2019 12:01

Ours is the same as Brugmansia's but a 90cm. We have had it fo r2.5 years now and I find cooking with it a real pleasure. I can vouch for it being of very sturdy construction.

Hi
My rangemaster. 110. Glass insert doors double oven separate grill has been brilliant. Used hard for the last 21 years
The odd light bulb in oven gone now and again.
The “brass’ colour on knobs and handles started to peal away ( i blame Cillit bang) over the last couple of years
Otherwise its still going strong
Would recommend

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 29/01/2019 12:06

@higgyhog @brugmansia love the look of that one- my space is 100 so going to see if comes in the nexus model.

We went for a budget friendly Belling, reviews were ok, kitchen designer warned us against the brand but actually its been fab. It's only 90 though, it looks very yellow on the website but its very nice IRL.

We have a Rayburn 680K, also does the heating and hot water, all on timers including the cooker so you don't need to have it on 24/7. We simply replaced our large 40 year old floor standing boiler with it. Don't regret it, it's very reliable, we spend less than £500/year on heating and cooking, largely because after cooking our tea it acts like a storage heater for the evening meaning we rarely have our heating on.

GreyGirlAbove · 29/01/2019 15:56

I have the Rangemaster electric Nexus 110. Had it for 5 months. Love it.

BubblesBuddy · 29/01/2019 15:58

I have two Kuppersbusch built in ovens that are 18 years old. They are just as good as the day they were bought. I cannot imagine replacing a cooker after 5 years. My advice would be to get built in. Buy a decent make where you feel the money you are spending results in a well made solid product that will last. We have a Miele hob and that’s perfect too. Don’t settle for something that’s not well made. Eye level is so much easier on your back!

PanannyPanoo · 29/01/2019 15:59

Have a Rangemaster Elan, its about 10 years old now and brilliant. Love the shelf mounted in the door - so easy to check on /baste roasts.

Love the pull out grill, love the 2 ovens. Easily do Christmas dinner for 12.

Movinghouseatlast · 29/01/2019 16:02

I have a Falcon. I have had it for 12 years and it looks new. It is heavy and well made. Every tiny part can be replaced.

I am moving and leaving it behind as I don't have gas in my new house. I will miss it hugely.

I had chosen a Mercury. I saw one and it is very good quality.

However, I have gone out of my tiny mind and bought an Everhot which is eyewateringly expensive, but serves a purpose as there are no radiators in our new kitchen. Oh It is a beauty!!!

Mummytoalittleone · 29/01/2019 16:03

Rangemaster nexus gas hob and electric oven it is perfect ! Had a rangemaster in my last house for 8 years then sold the house with the cooker and bought a new one for my new house as I was so impressed with rangemaster 😊

Eminybob · 29/01/2019 16:05

I’m very pleased with my belling. Tbf it’s my first range so I have nothing to compare it to, but I love it, it ticks all the boxes for me.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 29/01/2019 16:07

Help!! The nexus not available in my size-

I am leaning towards Rangemaster but need one that is 100 cm.

Anyone have one that size to recommend?

Thanks so much for all suggestions-very helpful!!

CoperCabana · 29/01/2019 17:46

I have a professional plus I think it is called which I am sure is available in all sizes.

I don’t find it is a problem with my back at all and is cavernous compared to my old built in oven which I had the engineer out for 3 times in the first 5 years.

Thierryhenryneedisaymore · 25/07/2020 11:30

Resurrecting an old thread here sorry but im looking for exactly the same. 100cm width induction hob with electric oven. Does anyone have recommendations? The choice is making my head spin! Thanks!

hellfireleather · 25/07/2020 20:48

I have a Belling cookmaster 100cm with induction hob. The grill isn't great but everything else is brilliant. I got a 5 year insurance-backed warranty for it for about £100. Belling often do good cashback deals.

makingmyway10 · 27/07/2020 13:12

I had a rangemaster it was about 20 years old, previous owners of the house had put it in. It was a dream and I loved it, although not the style I would choose, it was an old fashioned classic design. I cook a lot and bake and even after it taking a battering for over 13 years it was still reliable and wonderful to cook with. We have just moved house and there is an old Falcon here. It looked beautiful until we used it, it is old so maybe that is the problem but even so I hate it! The oven is not as good as the range master by a long way. It is solidly built and looks lovely but I hate it so much, my new rangemaster Elise 110 duel fuel is arriving next week! Smile

gingergiraffe · 27/07/2020 13:23

Personally I can’t see the attraction of range type cookers. . Who uses all those rings on the hob? Not me, and I do a lot of cooking. A pain to clean and having to bend down to put things in the oven and not view them easily whilst cooking. Now way would I ever get a free standing cooker after having a built in type for years. Each to their own though.

makingmyway10 · 27/07/2020 13:39

Ginger giraffe I do use all the hobs and the beauty of no glass is no cleaning it! I would find it very difficult to go back to a standard cooker now. Each to their own Smile
