Large TV on the wall

Has anyone got a large tv on the wall? Mine is a 55 inch and inherited through a divorce from the old house! Bit too big if I'm honest but I think putting it on the wall would free up some space!

Is it possible? I'm worried about it crashing down!

You can buy specific wall brackets to suit the size of the TV. Properly fitted with these there’s no reason why it would come crashing down! Ask in your local Curry’s or similar type shop for advice on the type you need or google the make and size of the TV along with “wall bracket” for ideas/prices.

Thanks - I've no intention of fitting it myself - I'll have that done professionally!!! Sounds like it's a possibility. I want it against a chimney breast - at least that's what it looks like - it's covered in tongue and groove but I'll check with neighbours what theirs is like

Yes, I have. Love it on the wall. I used this bracket.

It was easy to put up, I just had to get a friend round to help me lift the tv onto the brackets as whilst I can do most things I couldn't manage that!!

Remember you also need to get the cables into the wall (also ok if you get someone who knows what they are doing

Oh, x post, yes if you are getting someone in it will be fine. There is someone who lives a couple of roads away from me who does this sort of thing, a TV aerial man. I hid the wires in some cream trunking but it would be better if you made a channel in the wall.

Trunking visible here.

From Amazon, you just peel the backing off and stick it on. However, the glue is so strong it pulled the paint off the wall when I decided to move it (you can see where I have bodged colouring it in with not quite the right paint on the bottom left of the TV screen ... pending redecoration in the spring 🙂).

Mine's a 60inch and looks so much better on the wall.

I was worried it would look stupid and clunky; but I haven't looked back.

DH loves his tech and so we now have an 85inch TV on our wall... I am convinced it is going to fall off, but it seems pretty solid... I dust it very carefully though lol

Thanks all - you've given me the confidence to get it done! I hadn't even thought about the cables Hmmbut the cable cover looks the easiest way. I need to get someone round to try and work out what's behind the tongue and groove and then (hopefully) I'll be good to go!

I was thinking about the cables earlier. I can't get my head around how you would conceal them in a channel. Would you have to cut the plug off the TV and then add another one. My wires wouldn't have been long enough to feed down a channel in the wall until the TV was flush with the wall.

I have no idea really, the only other person I know with a TV on the wall hasn't covered up the wires.
