Creating a through room

I want to offer on a house that has been fully refurbished, but I prefer an open plan kitchen diner. Seems a shame to destroy a beauty finish to get the open plan I want. Anyone done this and how much does it cost?

Is it just removing a wall and remastering? Leaving kitchen in situ?

Yes, the kitchen would remain

Not a lot then if it is not load bearing. We were quoted about 2k to knock a wall down, build one and replaster ( We were turning a house with a large lounge diner into a separate lounge and kitchen diner)

We've just paid £600 to have a just over 2 metre non bearing wall removed and made good. It would have been £2,500 if load bearing. However, be aware that the floors between the two rooms are unlikely to be even, particularly if it's an old house. Ours are a good 10-15mm out. It doesn't matter for us as we are having a total renovation but if you are leaving the kitchen in place it's a big consideration.
