Looking for advice. We have built a modern house with large windows requiring a curtain drop of 275cms or more.... do any of you have large windows? How have you furnished them? Did you opt for curtains or blinds? Would love to hear your ideas! Thank you

I have had mine for the French windows from m&s once but I think they were made to measure and Laura Ashley. Come to think of it they were both made to measure.

Sorry no help was I?

I think IKEA curtains all come in 3m lengths. Ive had several pairs and they stand up to washing well. Decent mid price range too.

I second Ikea - currently eyeing up lounge curtains that are at least a foot too long and need taking up!

Dothehappydance · 25/01/2019 21:14

Dunelm seem to do some of their curtains in a longer length,

Here is one example

www.dunelm.com/product/highland-check-natural-lined-eyelet-curtains-1000063552#Colour%20Group=Natural

Other option is made to measure.

Ebay. Type in 'huge curtains". I have bought 2 paira from a seller who deals in ex show home stuff

We’ve got very big windows, which I didn’t think would be an issue for curtains. We’ve had to have made to measure on most. Mainly for width, rather than drop (and curtains poles made to measure too, as they needed to be 3.6m).

Try John Lewis and Laura Ashley always have big sales

I have french doors and had made so watching with interest as they need replacing and I can't afford to have them made now

icklekid · 26/01/2019 04:53

Always been really pleased with Dunelm curtains. We were actually quite surprised at how reasonable Hilary's were as we just got some beautiful curtains in there 50% sale. The quality is incredible- we did have to haggle a lot though!

Monty27 · 26/01/2019 05:02

Off the peg is the way to go if you can get them.

Conchamar · 26/01/2019 15:40

Are Hillarys curtains/blinds regarded as good quality for the price? We have had Curtains Made at the house to measure up and quote. They get good reviews. We haven’t got the quote yet.... can any of you recommend other competitive curtain making businesses that you regard provide a quality product at a not too eyewatering price?...!!

I got some from Amazon with a 274 cm drop

EverlyNow · 26/01/2019 22:27

I thought Hillarys were expensive! Even with their so called 50% off sale. I also didn’t like the hard sell follow ups (brochures, texts, calls). Instead, I’ve used a local lady where I’m the one following up, rather than being chased by a salesman

TowerRingInferno · 27/01/2019 09:45

Ikea - I buy 2 lots and sew 2 together to make extra wide curtains

PizzaPlanet · 27/01/2019 12:18

I’ve got a 3.5m tall window and got a quote in dunelm for a pair of lined curtains, the making up was ridiculously expensive compared to the cost of the material. I bought the material and got someone local to make them up for me for about half the price. I was very nervous incase I’d measured the drop incorrectly but luckily it was all fine!

trickyex · 27/01/2019 12:56

IKEA or there is a good seller on Ebay I have used, Graceandgoldney I think. I bought some lovely lined linen curtains from here with a 3m drop.

trickyex · 27/01/2019 12:57

And yy to doublin up IKEA curtains if you need wide as well as long curtains.
