How much is a new bathroom?

I know this is a how long is a piece of string question but I could do with some rough idea of how much I need to save.

Everything needs doing. The pipes are all in front of the tiling so easy to get to.

  • Replace the bath, toilet and sink. Toilet isn't moving but the sink is moving about 3ft and the bath is turning around so the taps are where the feet are at the moment. Just a normal suite.
  • Electric shower to be added above the bath.
  • Rip out all the tiles and fully tile it. I'm useless with measurements and don't have a tape measure but it's a bath and a little wide and a bath and a half long. Grin
  • New radiator is moving.
  • Flooring will just be lino or something. But I'm guessing the current tiles will need covering in a light layer of concrete or something to smooth out the grout lines?
  • Fan added.
  • Who knows what needs doing with the ceiling. It's an absolute mess. Needs to include new lights.
  • New door.

It'll all be off the shelf but not budget range if you see what I mean.

Thanks.

chickydoo - did the items you chose get ordered by and delivered to the installaction company or did you have to order yourself and wait in for multiple deliveries?

chickydoo · 26/01/2019 20:17

@Aridane Building company was on site (doing other stuff) so I didn't wait in.

I've used the MyBuolder site for a few jobs. One was a bathroom refit and I can recommend them. You can see the reviews/ratings. These come from registered people who post the job requirements, choose tradespeople and then review after. Mine was 8k all in. Knocked back to brick then mid prices fittings.

If you want to cut costs then don't tile it all? Completely unnecessary and very expensive part of the labour.

We've just had bathroom and ensuite done.

Bathroom - toilet, sink and bath all moved to different walls, carronite shower bath, new electric mira shower install over bath, shower screen, wall hung built in gerbit toilet, wall hung vanity basin, large central heating towel rail, mirror with lights and shaver socket, fully tiled. Click vinyl flooring. New extractor fan. Plastic Ceiling and flush mounted spotlights. Bristan mixer taps. Etc Ensuite - thermostatic shower, bifold doors, wall hung toilet, wall hung vanity, mirrored cabinet, fully tiled, large central heating towel rail. New extractor fan. Ceiling and flush mounted spotlights. No flooring in ensuite yet as will do as part of bedroom refurb. Both rooms all plumbing put into walls so not visible.

£9k for both including all fittings, tiles, materials and labour etc done over 4.5 days then further 4 days so we always had one room in use. (Scotland).

Ours was around 6k, we had floor to ceiling tiling and a complete rearrange.

We're about to get ours done, sounds the same amount of work as you bar the sink being moved.

Our agreed quote is £5,700, for everything plus fitting all done by one company.

Out quote from Bathstore was £5,700 JUST FOR THE FITTING!! Plus £2,500ish for all the goods, tiles etc.

So prices vary a lot.

I would go and get some quotes as you would be surprised what you can get for your money. If you get someone good they can work with you to get as much as possible for your money.
