Moving Electric Meter

I rent from a Local Authority who are installing new heating into some of their housing stock, mine included. The electricity boxes have to be moved from indoors to outside. Most of my neighbours are with SSE who have been doing this but I had a 'new' meter installed indoors by my supplier, Eon, last year. Now although SSE can reroute the supply as they are the area distributors they cannot move the actual meter as it is not their property. My housing officer has said I have to arrange this which is going to be a logistical nightmare as both the supply and meter have to be moved on same day or I will be without power, heating or hot water. Plus when initially emailing Eon they said there would probably be a charge. Surely as it is the Landlord and not myself who wants the meter moved it is up to them to arrange all this? I have no date for the new heating apart from sometime in March so basically I would have to arrange with Eon at very short notice to say I have to have your engineer here on a certain day at a certain time 😟

I think a clever trick would be to transfer to SSE as your supplier.

As long as you don't sign up to a tariff with an exit penalty, you can switch again if you feel the need.

I have thought of doing just that PigletJohn. The meter Eon installed, and those of other suppliers Im told, have soldered id tags on from the company that installed them, which engineers from other companies cannot remove so think I need to do some more digging first. Will hunt down one of the SSE guys and ask him his thoughts.
