Hallo!

Hoping you can help - we are on private supply and had rubbish water pressure. Our plumber installed a DAB e.sy mini water pump in our loft to help with pressure. It’s set at 1.8psi big is clicking on approx every 20 seconds. As a separate issue our float switch has stopped working so manually turn on pump from private supply to fill tanks. Is that affecting the pressure pump? Will the motor burn out? What to do? Hubby has let some air out at chsbed setting to 1.7.

if it keeps going on, it is surely losing pressure, so most likely a leak.have a look in all your WC cisterns. Is one of them running?

it could even be a pressure-relief valve. There might be one in your pressurising system, intended to open if pressure goes too high, or by your hot water cylinder. It shouldn't be the boiler unless you have accidentally left the filling valve open.

If your hot and cold water are at different pressures, it might be an internal leak in a mixer (usually a shower but could be a mixer tap, usually a ceramic type with a joystick).

It's possible that if you prowl round the house at dead of night you might hear a dripping or running water noise.

If the leak is under the ground floor, or in a garden supply, you won't see a damp stain appearing near the leak.

i don't know what else you can do. The installing plumber ought to be more familiar with it.

could also be a washing machine or dishwasher, or a freezer that has an icemaker. Turn off the valve (probably under the sink) where the plastic supply pipe is connected.

Our bathroom tap is dripping - need to replace the washer I think. Would that be enough to do it?

could be. I don't know how much water you have to lose for the pressure to drop and the pump to start.
