Wood burning stove removal

Hi all

A bit clueless here so hoping for some advice!

We bought a house a few years ago with a wood burning stove in the living room. Have only used it a handful of times and now with a toddler running around it's a bit of a menace.

We want to remove it and the hearth, fill in the hole and then mount the tv on the chimney breast (to keep it out of reach of those little toddler hands!).

What kind of trader am I looking for for this? I'm not coming up with much on google (people only seem to want to put them in!). I'm guessing the chimney will need capping or something as part of the removal?

Any help appreciated!

Put the tv on a pull out tilt and turn bracket so you can pull it forward and turn it for optimal viewing and push it back when not in use - about £40 from Amazon. Get a large fire guard (long side with 2 short returns and a top). Fix a couple of hooks either end of the fire guard with the eyes either side of the fireplace. Job done for a lot less than removing the wood burner. We did this when DD started moving around as we had a large granite fireplace with an open fire and large hearth.

I'd like some advice on this.
We also have a wood burner that was already installed when we moved in 5 years ago. It's never been used and is now turning into a very sorry state. It's rusty and stinks. I have no idea what the next steps should be? I'd hate to see it removed but I think there's no other option.
All advice appreciated.

@Curly88 I've just seen this old thread as I need to remove a wood burner - did you remove yours in the end and how easy was it? Thanks

They are very easy to take out, disconnect the flue and just lift the wood burner out. Be prepared for a sooty mess. You do need a vent cap on the chimney and the hole blocking up where the flue pipe went in the fireplace. Ask a builder about the chimney.
