What trader do I need? Help! (photos)

I have no idea which trader to call for this. We had the canopy above our door fixed (it had a hole) but the exterior wall remained damp, and now the toilet room on the other side has gone all horrible. The paper has yellow stains, it's bumbling and distorting. The water from outside must be penetrating inside.

What can be done about this and what type of trader do I call?

Where's all the water coming from?

sittingonthetallseat · 13/01/2019 19:30

Well, it was originally coming from the hole in the canopy. But the damage to the inside toilet has happened AFTER we had that fixed.

The staining and damage in the toilet room does seem to correspond to the water staining on the outside brickwork though.

I would say either the canopy repair has caused another issue - e.g. water somehow trapped inside or it's due to everything drying out.

What trader do you think we should call? Should we call the people who fixed the canopy? Is there someone else we should call?

It doesn't terribly look like it is drying out.

I think I would get the back, yes.

Assuming you are in the uk, it hasn't really rained for the last 3 weeks, so that couldnt be the cause of this wet. I would say you have got a leaking pipe somewhere. Was it this wet before you had the canopy fixed, and how did they fit the canopy - did they drill into the wall? Have you got pipes in this wall? When it quiet, can you hear any hissing? Put your eat against any nearby water pipes and see if you can hear anything. Other than that, I think you need a plumber

Really? It rained here yesterday.

wowfudge · 13/01/2019 21:02

Whereabouts are you Lucisky? We've certainly had some rain in the last few weeks in Cheshire/Derbyshire.

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 13/01/2019 21:03

Are you in a flat?

That looks like penetration from a leaking pipe.

Plumber.

Lucisky · 13/01/2019 21:05

Oh sorry, I thought the whole country had been quite dry. Must get out of my little bubble! I'm in the west country. Anyway, I still think it looks like a leaky pipe op. Hope you get it sorted.

The wall was wet like that before we had the canopy fixed. We thought the wet was caused by the hole in the canopy letting rain come down through the hall and never really drying out (north facing at the front).

I don't know if they drilled anything when they fixed it.

Haven't noticed any hissing, but then it would be the downstairs toilet that I don't spend a lot of time in.

We are not in a flat, it's a house.
