Landmark Lofts - experiences?

Hi there, I'm looking to get a loft conversion done and wondered whether anyone has experience of using Landmark Lofts? I'm particularly interested in their modular conversions where they build the loft off site. If anyone has experience of this, I'd be really interested to know how you found the process. Thanks!

I haven’t, but know someone who has, and they said that if they did it again, they’d go for a regular conversion! It took a lot longer than the advertised 3 weeks...I think there were issues with some of the measurements. It was pretty cool watching it being craned in though.

Ah, thank-you DinoDiva, that's useful to know. Yes, measurements presumably need to be super accurate - the mind boggles!

Anyone else had this done?

i think they have gone into receivership.

Is that where they build a dormer and crane it on to the property? I don’t know the company, but we had a dormer installed like that and it was amazing. Took five hours and no mess in the house as the crane took all the rubbish out from the loft before lifting the dormer on.

i used them back in 2014 as the offered a 10 years guarantee. I was just about to contact them as there is a leak in my flat roof, and i read Landmark Lofts was supposed to go into administration last year, but they have failed to file (perhaps to avoid criminal investigation) and so although ceased trading are still officially active. It seems that they took the deposit of lots of people and did not do any work.

they used subcontract, who they pay a fixed amount and the use the money as they see fit. I payed for a walking in shower (so the whole bathroom would have to be water protected, but during ocnstruction i was told that there was not enough space... i payed i think £2,500 for it and then i had to fight to proof that it was not really delievered and got some discount of the "extra" work that they did ...

Hi Deca, could you contact me on twitter at @Coramazov - if you don't have twitter I can send my e-mail. I'm presently conducting a journalistic investigation into Landmark Lofts.

lightlypoached · 08/04/2023 17:40

@cormacc @deca will only be notified if you @ them. Which I've now done 😊

Thanks a mill

I don't have any experience with the company, and from what I have read up thread it feels it might be best to avoid them, BUT I had no idea there were modular lofts so now you've got me reading all about them. I had heard of modular conversions. Google the loft version and there's several companies doing them. I am now going down the rabbit hole to see if they're cheaper and good value. Any experience of modular lofts do shout.

Think VERY carefully, and definitely avoid Landmark Lofts if they are even still trading. We went ahead and it was a complete nightmare. If you go down the modular route, I would recommend using a company that is still geographically close to you as there will inevitably be snagging once it’s complete and if the builders are based the other end of the country, then it will be difficult to get them back to rectify any issues. To be honest I really wish we’d gone with a recommended local firm offering a traditional conversion. I don’t think it would have taken much longer either.

Could anyone who has had a bad experience with Landmark Lofts, and who is willing to speak to a journalist, contact me on the following e-mail [email protected], thanks.

Recently published investigation into James Gold's newest endeavour which involves his use of a loophole to take ownership of council housing across LDN without the consent of many tenants. Once he takes over, he then tries to build new homes on the tenants roofs- read below: www.londoncentric.media/p/james-gold-property-developer-london-council-housing
