Composite Rock Door Draughty.

We had a new rock door fitted in October. It looks great but has such a draft through the lock keep. The Installer adjusted as much as they can but it is still draughty. Rock eventually attended and told me it is to be expected Confused Totally normal apparently. I am so annoyed. I spent a lot on the door and install. I literally have nowhere to go now as the manufacturer has said it is installed correctly and the draught is in tolerance. Wtaf!! It is so draughty it whistles on a bad day. anyone else had similar experience?

air coming in balances air going out. So where is the air escaping?

is there a back door off the hall?

Or are you open plan?

Is the loft hatch a bad fit?

Or do you have holes in ceilings for lamps to poke through?

Mine is the same.
It's an old house. I just assumed it can't be helped as the lock is a hole?

lock keep means the plate with the "socket" that the bolt of the lock goes into.

I'm guessing the factory draughtstrip had to be cut away to allow the lock to operate.

Post some photos of the edge of the door, the keep, and the gap. It's possible a furry pile strip would go in (the fur compresses very easily)

Hi pigletjohn. I'm struggling to post a picture but yes the draft strip is missing at the lock keep. There is a slight draft at the hinges but most significantly at the lock keep. nothing through the key hole.

Yes, we had a Rockdoor that was similarly draughty.

We found out that our door was bowing. We ended up having two Rockdoors (original and replacement) but both bowed. We had all the usual rubbish about the door being the wrong colour, it was in tolerance, too hot, too cold blah blah. We took our installer to the small claims court to get our money back. A risky option though. Is your installer one of Rockdoor’s trusted installers? Ours wasn’t and I think that can make a difference.

We now have a completely different brand composite door installed with a different installer and no issues with draughts or bowing. I think when the Rockdoor frame was removed it was found that it wasn’t fitted correctly (not square) enough and likely the pressure was causing the Rockdoor to bend out of shape.

However, I don’t think our new composite door is quite as nice as the Rockdoor and the quality of the finish not as good but at least it hasn’t bowed.

I don't know why Rockdoor is having these issues with their doors. I thought we were buying a quality, top of the range product and we are very disappointed.
