Shower enclosure or walk in behind a wall?

Currently looking at ideas for bathroom, and just trying to make my mind up on this..

I love the wall idea, however we may or may not end up selling in the future (it’s not a definite forever home but it’s an ‘it’ll do’ if we’re not in the position to buy again in the future)

I’m looking at various enclosures and nothing is really doing it for me, I feel this would ‘flow’ better.

I’d either have the half wall like in the photo, or potentially a full height wall so that I could put the mirror and vanity against it too.

But my only worry is that it could put people off as it’s obviously difficult to to change, compared to a normal cubicle.

Would this put you off?

The bit infront of the entry to the shower would be the ‘drying’ area, will have towel rails/rad and hooks and the wall opposite will have lots of storage, so it will be a very functional area.

bubbles the half wall would have a glass panel on top so that would keep the water from splashing over the side I think? And then I’m thinking about having a hinged screen like TRCM posted earlier

I’ve posted another photo as I don’t think the glass shows up well in the one I posted in the OP.

We haven’t contacted anyone for prices yet but we had a full height stud wall built last year and it was only £200. (to knock an old one down and new one in different position) I was basing the potential cost on that, which I wouldn’t mind. I just wouldn’t want it to put buyers off if we were to ever sell in the future.

We are gutting the bathroom and replacing everything, so will be tiling anyway.

Thanks for clarifying re bobkates loo, I really like it! I want to do similar with a vanity unit (counter top and undercounter basin), but the ones I can find are far too expensiveSad

Alternatively I’ve been thinking about something like this, but it would have to be wall to wall in my bathroom. I could still have the ‘drying area’ but it would be inside the enclosure (I just really like the look of a small wallGrin) and that style vanity unit up against it

I like a half wall with glass top and glass door, you get them in hotels a lot. The wall is good for popping shampoo on while you're in the shower. The only thing I'm not sure about is the floor, they're often mosaic and a bit uncomfortable to stand on, plus I wonder if they'd be hard to clean. I like a nice, clean, easy-wipe ceramic shower tray!

(I don't particularly like either half wall in the photos op, sorry).

Interesting thread OP, it's something I've been dithering about recently as we've a bathroom to do soon.

Love the idea of storage lol

honeyroar oh I’m definitely having a normal shower tray, though I do like the look of a fully tiled floor. I think it would be problematic having to lift and retile if there’s any issues with draining etc though.

Do you mean you don’t like the colour/style etc or the actual wall itself(placement and whatnot)? Colour wise I’m not sure just yet, it’s taken me months to decide whether to have the shower on the left or right😂

I’m wondering if there’s anything else I should consider, before I get people in to quote.

Oh sorry, don't take too much from it - it's just my opinion, and only your opinion really matters.. I thought that the wall was too high on the first pic, and I wasn't keen on the square tiles. In the second photo I didn't like the layout- the loo and shower in kind of stalls..

Here are a couple of pics of two bathrooms I've liked recently in hotels I've stayed in. Neither are exactly what I want, but are along the lines..

Its fine honeyroar! I’m shit with small details like that so all opinions are welcomeSmile

Is it also worth considering cleaning factor? For the extra wall/partition I mean. Tiles/grout more effort than glass in my opinion (especially glass with a coating on it which prevents limescale- just clean with squidgy)

We have a wall. Doesn’t quite reach the ceiling. One side is the shower and the other the bath. Here’s a couple of photos.
