Ikea wardrobes

So I’ve seen the wardrobes that you ‘build’ on the ikea website and they seem to solve a space problem.

Has anyone got these, and are they hard to put together and sturdy enough for a cack-handed teenagers room?

I have the IKEA Pax wardrobes, they are sturdy (especially if you fix them to the wall as recommended). Lots of options, sizes, internal drawers and storage solutions. I have internal lights which were cheap and help as it illuminates the contents so encourages me & DH to keep it tidy Grin
You need two people to assemble them, I found them quite straightforward as long as you follow the instructions. IKEA delivery was good, they brought everything upstairs to the master bedroom (not just to the front door) which was great.

Pax?
Brilliant. We've got 3m of extra tall.
Load of options for the internal storage.
Easy to put together, but check your ceiling heights.

Are you thinking of the Pax wardrobes? We have recently bought these, we went into the store armed with the measurements of the room & with a rough idea of what we wanted & the assistant talked through with us & then put together the best combination for us on their In-store pc. This gave us a 3-d view of them with interior fittings customised to suit us.
We had them delivered to us & then put them together over a day.

Pax here too. We had a really old crappy ikea wardrobe before and not much space. This new Pax with internal large drawers has solved all our storage issues in our room.

Pax are great, really solid and very customisable, we have them in our bedroom and will be getting some for the kids room soon.

It’s called Platsa - I like the way to can get narrow ones (40cm deep) but not sure the hangers would be sturdy (as they are only fixed from the back and run front to back rather than sideways)

Oh and do you really need to bracket them to the wall?

You don't really need to, but they do look better fixed as I think they can lean slightly if you don't.

Didn't have the new ones but we had Pax in our old (high ceilings) flat. They don't fit in our new house (bedroom ceilings too low) so DH has taken the doors off and uses them as garage storage.

Pax are fantastic 👍🏼

I have a dressing room filled with Pax, did it all myself with DH just popping in to help me raise them after I’d assembled, it’s very straightforward, can be more fiddly if you are doing doors though, mine are open. Also if you have a run of them you do need to drill an extra hole to bolt them together and it’s better to use a little clamp to hold them in place for doing that, I tried without and regretted it, much easier once I spent a few quid on the clamp (from hardware shop, not sold in IKEA). And yes, tall ones will wobble unless bolted to the wall.
Don’t know PATSA, but I would find front to back hanging a right pain and would try to avoid if at all possible.

I love PAX. I’ve just designed one with lots of internal storage, using the online tool, and it’s being delivered tomorrow. Very easy to do and very good value I think.

Another big fan of the Pax here. We have a run of 6 of the 3m tall ones. Ours aren't fixed to the wall and only wobbled a bit until DH bolted them together. This is our second set of Pax - the last ones were only replaced because we wanted more and the had discontinued the colour we had...
