Temporary wall partition/screen

We have got into a bad financial situation due to illness and are frantically doing up our house to sell. A relative has offered us the use of a holiday flat about 10 minutes drive from where we live which means the kids could stay at their college and we could take the first best offer and move out quickly and not lose a sale in this sluggish market if need be whilst paying her a reasonable rent ( but less than a normal market rent). The flat is empty (no funrniture) as relative can't decide whether to sell up.

The issue is that although the flat is large, it has only one big bedroom and a big living room. There are 2 doors into the bedroom, one from the
living room and one near the end of the galley kitchen. We have twin girls and a teenaged son. We thought we would sleep in a sofa bed in the lounge and we could partition the bedroom for some privacy for the kids as they are older teens (even thpugh there will be no window as such at one end). I had thought of using 2 or 3 sets of rice paper type screens or large office partition screens but wonder if you guys know of a better solution? Most of our stuff would go into storage and the move would hopefully be a short as we can make it as I don't fancy having to share the tiny bathroom in the mornings!

I used a 3-unit width Billy bookcase from IKEA as a very effective room divider. I'd advise against the full height ones as it will be difficult to make them stable.

IKEA kallax might be a better bet for full height stability but you'd need to fill every compartment with a box for an effective screen.

Thanks great ideas.
We have 4 billy bookcases (the tall ones) I agree they might not be that stable and the backside is ugly. The Kallax is a good idea as its more stabe I think and storage too, we could fill each hole easily, as storage will be an issue. Maybe I could use a curtain as well for some extra privacy?

We used wardrobes to divide my and my brother's room when I was a teen. Two wardrobes side by side dividing the room, each facing opposite directions so we had one each. It was a rental so we couldn't have posters or suchlike on the walls, so we were allowed to use the back of each others wardrobes for posters, pictures etc. It worked really well as an easily removable solution.

Ikea do sliding panel curtains here which could be good if you want something you can draw back in the daytime - you’d have to get relative’s permission to mount the brackets and make good when you move out. Doesn’t give storage though so you might prefer the Kallax!

Interesting idea minipie. A curtain track across vould work but noise might be an issue

Awkward love the wardrobe suggestion. So obvious now you've mentioned it and robust too.

Want to measure up now. A mix or 2 wardrobes and a Kallax might do the job.
