If you have a memory foam mattress, how well has it lasted?

I am thinking of buying one of the memory foam mattresses in the new year sales, but was just wondering if anyone who has had one for a year or more would let me know whether they go saggy, or whether they maintain their comfort?

TIA!

We've had ours for 5 years now and it's still my favourite place in the whole world!
I can tell the difference between Dh's side and mine though, so it's definitely sagged a bit

I have a very expensive traditional mattress made with natural fibres. It’s now 23 years old. It’s perfect. Foam? No thanks! Buy high quality natural fibres and you have a much better product. You’ll find one in the sales and still no sagging so it’s been amazing value.

16 years, one of the early Tempur matresses.

Still in fab condition and just moved to the spare room as I needed a new bed following a house move.

Tempur has to count as one of the best things I ever bought !!

Ours is now twleve years old and it is still so comfortable that DC in late teens still come and loll on our bed with us every night because it's so snuggly. Cost over a grand then, though.

madcatladyforever · 24/12/2018 17:52

Mine's lasted 10 years and is still incredibly comfy.

thesnapandfartisinfallible · 24/12/2018 17:54

Mine is 2 years old and hasn't sagged at all.

MincePieMum · 24/12/2018 19:21

We have a 10 yr old memory foam mattress. It is by far the comfiest ever. I have chronic pain and am very susceptible to back pain. I always struggle when we go away. This mattress is perfect. I can even balance a cup of tea on DH's side and shift position in bed without the tea spilling! Awesome.

I have a half sprung, half memory foam mattress. It's 9yrs old and still perfect, no sagging. Was about £550 in Dreams clearance store.

mimibunz · 24/12/2018 20:52

We have a 2 year old half sprung half memory foam and what a treat! I used to have a sore back every morning from a decent John Lewis mattress but haven’t had one since we got this mattress.

GummyGoddess · 24/12/2018 23:26

We have a mattress with a memory foam top layer which is about 8 years old. It's still comfy but has now got body grooves in it which we automatically slide into, no matter how much we try to stay out of them.

Annoyingly it proves DH right beyond a shadow of a doubt that he sleeps on the edge of the bed and I sleep almost in the centre Angry

Tempur Celebrity, purchased 12 years ago and still as good as new. Doesn’t hold the heat as we expected (which is good), no sagging. Wouldn’t look at anything else having had this experience.

toomuchfaster · 25/12/2018 19:10

Half memory foam, half sprung: 8 years old and going strong. We really dislike sleeping anywhere else! Cost about £1000 so hoping to get several more years out of it yet!

SumitosIsMyWall · 25/12/2018 19:37

Ours is half sprung and half foam too. It's incredible and is coming up on 7 years old this spring. I'd never swap back to a normal mattress.

picklemebaubles · 25/12/2018 19:47

Very saggy, very Hot, and sucks you in!

C4tastrophe · 26/12/2018 08:43

Ergoflex, 8 years old, still in perfect condition, no sagging.
I’ll never buy a sprung mattress again.

LittleCandle · 26/12/2018 08:46

Mine is coming up for 6 years old and still brilliant. I am currently sleeping in the spare bed to let my DD and her DP sleep in my room and the spare bed mattress leaves one hell of a lot to be desired in comparison. I really missed the heat-keeping qualities on Christmas Eve when it was baltic outside! I wouldn't go back to a sprung mattress. I do turn my regularly, though.

treaclesoda · 26/12/2018 08:48

I've had two. A really expensive one (can't remember the brand) that was terrible and went saggy and awful within a year.

And a really cheap one from Dreams that has lasted for years and is like new.

Bowerbird5 · 26/12/2018 09:17

Tempur not sure how old it is about 8 years I think. Love it except sometimes very hot. Was too hot this summer. Lovely in winter.

uncoolnn · 26/12/2018 09:19

I've had mine about 8 years. Still as comfy as the day it was bought and worth every penny.
