Is the plumber fibbing to make more money?

Getting quotes for bathroom refurb. We want a shower over the bath. Our plumber says so-called deck-mounted taps (tap holes in bath) with an exposed shower attachment are bad.
He's pushing boxed in with a shower valve.
We are looking at an Aqualisa Midas 220.
Boxing in would mean a smaller bath for the space.
Is there truth in what he says?
Thanks!

I guess there is a possibility of a leak round the taps if they are constantly sprayed with water?

Does "boxed in" mean the pipes and mixer are buried in the wall and tiled over?

Aqualisa mixers are very good but the Midas is a bar mixer that goes on the surface of the wall. You can get a fixing bracket that can be tiled over but protrudes so the mixer can be removed and fitted without needing to dig into the wall.

Generally I prefer exposed mixers because they are less disruptive when maintenance is needed. The round-bodied Aqualisa mixers are made so they can be maintained from the front (they are better than bar mixers).

Chrome pipes can also be mounted on the surface of the wall for the same reason.

Much sadness is caused when a tiled wall has to be hacked open to repair a leak.
