Hello there! Would love some of your collective wisdom. What is the most durable, non-porous thing out there? I have a home catering business and needs something that is going to take a lot of use and is as hygienic as possible. But it's not a restaurant, I don't want metal.

If you’re going to comply with the Environmental Health regulations for running a home catering business perhaps you should be looking to them for advice.

I already do comply with Environmental Health regulations with my current kitchen in fact, but thanks

Quartz or granite worktops would be durable and non porous

BubblesBuddy · 21/12/2018 01:10

Definitely quartz or granite. Definitely not Wood.

Why not wood? It's naturally anti-bacterial and as long as you don't leave water pooled on it, it doesn't take much in the way of upkeep.

Think of butcher's blocks - they've been around for hundreds of years for a reason.

Todamhottoday · 21/12/2018 07:31

Wowfudge do you have wood worktops?

wowfudge · 21/12/2018 07:42

Yes we do - coat of Osmo every six months keeps them shipshape.

I have had wood for around 13 years now and cannot wait to get rid, pain in the backside to keep looking good!
