Should I tile up to the ceiling or will it look weird?

My bathroom is tiled to about half-height all the way around apart from the shower. We finished the shower tiles level with the enclosure because we thought it would look neater, however, the shower itself has now broken so we need to open the wall to fix it. Despite having a powerful fan directly above the shower the paint is peeling quite badly. Should we take this opportunity to re-tile right up to the ceiling or will it look weird in this corner?

I think it will look nice if you tile right up

Cailinnua · 19/12/2018 15:59

I would tile all the way up

Oh my god. Why did I not realise if our shower breaks we will have to break into the wall?

I am an absolute idiot.

Yep, I think it'll be fine to take them right up. Looks lovely, by the way!

MillStone · 19/12/2018 17:17

Out of interest, what’s wrong with the shower and what is the fix?

SushiMonster · 19/12/2018 17:54

@Youbloodywhaat depends what is next to the shower wall and construction, but you can sometimes go in the ‘other way’

You can get at my shower pipes through the bedroom next door, cheaper to repair a bit of plaster board than to retile.

It's on an outside wall high up so no coming in from the other side. For the poster who said what a nightmare having buried pipes - only if you choose shitey crap fittings, installed by dodgy types. I've been looking at replacement fittings & the good ones come with a 15yr guarantee.

The ceramic thingy inside is broken. Also the paint is peeling off the wall badly above due to the steam - despite the strong fan there.

I think shower cubicles actually produce more steam than walk in ones. Yes. I would tile up to the ceiling.
