Alternative to Oil heating?

We bought our house 2 years ago. Its a 1950s build. Heating system last changed in 1989.

We live in central Europe. Temperatures reach -20 most winters at some point.

Anyway, our oil system is old, and constantly needs fixing. We have had a quote for a new oil system but I don't really think its the way to go. Oil prices have been rising, and it currently costs us around €3000 per winter to heat our home.

We have had recommendations to change to a heat air pump. reviews seem to say they arent as efficient in cold weather, but several houses in the area definitely use them and say they work well, and sweden seems to use them. Do you need another source of heating also? our radiators are old so would probably all need replacing to work or underfloor is a possibility.

We have the option of solar as well, or in conjunction as its stays sunny here most of the time even in winter cold months.

What are the other options we should look at?

Geothermal is a no due to location and cost. Gas is not available. Ideally something that runs without much effort ie chopping wood or filling.

House is around 200m2 that would need heating.

pellet boiler? You can set these up with an auto feed, so much less faff than log fired systems.

I've no experience of using one myself, but they sound good in theory.
