Bathroom light issue

Misty9 · 19/12/2018 06:57

Currently we have to leave the bathroom mirror light on overnight as dc won't use the toilet in the dark mornings - but I'm supersensitive to light and it's waking me up (our door doesn't shut properly).

Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives? It's a pull cord light in the bathroom but dc won't walk there in the dark and if the hallway night light is left on I also can't sleep. Help!

Not trying to be a wise ass... fix your door?

Grin good suggestion but not really possible as old door and light still comes round it. I wake up from the light on the extension lead... hmm maybe I should wear an eye mask!

Eye mask or curtain for your door?

Off the point but how do you manage with such sensitivity? Surely it's a nightmare in hotels etc

Battery operated led push lights?

Misty9 · 19/12/2018 07:46

reindeer tis indeed a nightmare in hotels etc and I'm often found draping towels over tv standby lights in the middle of the night! I don't know what I can do to become less sensitive though.

We've put a small sensor light (battery one) in our bathroom. £10 from amazon. Brilliant as you can also take it away if staying elsewhere. Stays on long enough for LO to go for a wee & is motion sensitive.

Motion sensor or timed lights? Give him a torch to get to bathroom where he can switch on lights?

PeaQiwiComHequo · 19/12/2018 08:04

we have motion-sensitive dim lights between DC bedroom and bathroom, plus in the bathroom itself. the lights come on as soon as a DC appears at their bedroom door and lights their way there, and give enough light in the bathroom itself so no need to put main light on. much better for getting back to sleep after a night time loo trip too as bright lights wake you up.

Give the DC torches? They might think it's fun and won't be scared to go to the bathroom alone at night. Definitely get yourself an eye mask if you are so sensitive. They do work and are a low tech solution.
