Leaky bidet help please!

I've got a handheld toilet sprayer/bidet thing in my bathroom.

It used to work fine when I first moved in, but I was away for a couple of months with work and when I returned it's leaking.

If I turn it off at the wall it still leaks (albeit not as much) and it makes a sound where the hose goes in to the wall like a toilet does when it's filling up.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to check/if I can have a go at fixing it myself or do I need to get a plumber in?

I've attached a picture of the offending sprayer (after I removed the handle/spray head bit to see if that was the issue) and where it goes in to the wall.

Thank you if you know something!

yes, I know. They don't meet UK water regulations so I don't know where you'd get the parts (or someone willing to fit it) here, although some people do have them.

It looks to me like it has a screw-on ferrule at each end of the plastic hose, rather like a shower head, which I think is a 1/2" BSP connector. With luck you can get a new hose to fit at a plumbing or IY supplier, and screw it firmly on (rubber gloves will help you grip).

If you have a shower with a hose on it, you could unscrew that and see if it fits.

If a new hose doesn't cure it, then I think it will be the valve in the wall, and you will need a local plumber.

BTW if your squirter has a trigger operated jet, you should probably turn off the valve in the wall when unattended, and certainly if you are going away. Water pressure is higher at certain times, and hose connectors may leak or burst.

Thanks P.J. I'll have a go with the hose this week and then will try and find a plumber. I managed to fix the water pressure in he bathroom sink problem myself but this may call for a professional!

I'll make sure to leave it turned off from now on too, I had no idea about that. Thank you!
