Why has the paint cracked?

We had a former kitchen re-plastered earlier this year, and I painted it after it had dried out (Dulux trade matt if relevant, and there was loads of time for the plaster to dry). I've just spotted that the paint has cracked by the window - any ideas why that would happen? There's no heating in that room, could that be a factor? I'm just wondering if it's something I need to worry about or just one of those things and I should just leave it!

We had a lot of work done and lots of plastering / replastering.

We were told to wait at least 6 months to decorate as cracks will naturally appear. And others have had the same advice- none of us followed the advice and now we live with cracks!!

We weren't told 6 months, just to make sure it was dry. That's irritating! One to chalk up to experience I suppose.

Did you do a mist coat first before doing a proper coat of paint? (Watered down paint as the plaster will soak up all the moisture)

Yes, mist coat then 2 or 3 coats of paint on top.

We were told it takes two years for plaster to dry completely! Ours was painted trade white with that in mind, and we have cracks.

We had a new window put in our bathroom 6 years ago and there are cracks around that. Houses move as well so im not worried about it. Just sand and fill before decorating.

Two years?! I'm far too impatient for that!

Thanks all, I am now reassured it's not anything to worry about Smile and at some point I'll sand it down and re-do the paint job.

Those cracks are normal. Go and buy some fine filler

Mix some up, scrape it on with a filler knife, let it dry (takes a few hours to properly set) then sand it back and paint over. Job done.

I mix it up in plastic disposable plastic cups so when you’re done you can just throw it away no more mess.
