Living room flooring

Have recently moved house and we have a cream carpet in the living room. Also have 2 DS and a husband who have no idea how to wipe their feet! Carpet wasn't in the best condition when we moved in and is now even more grubby. Have spot cleaned and steam cleaned but nothing seems to shift the stains...

So am thinking after Xmas to get rid and replace with some other type of flooring. My worry is the living room is dual aspect with big front window and patio doors at the back. It can feel quite cool at times, and I HATE having cold feet.

Is there such thing as a vinyl, laminate, wooden floor that is warmish underfoot?

You could add rugs or get underfloor heating

Have a look at karndean (there are several other similar brands that I can't remember the names of). It's hard wearing and looks lovely, I wish we had it in our house!

You could always ask them to take their shoes off rather than running the dirt through...

@daphine2004 you'd think wouldn't you?! Unfortunately seems to go in one ear and put the other with my lot.

Can't afford underfloor heating but will defo be using rugs.

Will have a look into Kardean. Thank you!

Vinyl planks like Karndean would be a good option.
There are other cheaper brands that are as good though

We've just had Moduleo put throughout our downstairs (same sort of stuff as Karndean) because of similar issues and we love it. I wear sheepskin slippers as well as I hate cold feet!

I advocate a lot for luxury vinyl. Karndean & amtico are the most well known but also the most expensive. It's warm under foot, quiet & can get wet unlike laminate. Stick to warmer wood tones & stay away from grey and you should be fine.

Do you think the carpet was a cheap one put down to sell? You might find a good quality, dense one with a high wool content, some speckles and some Scotchgard or similar is perfectly fine. Some cheap carpets mark horrendously.

I liked the Karndean in our kitchen but it always felt cold. It's never seemed warm underfoot to me, it's just marginally warmer than tiles.
