Anyone fancy helping me with my ensuite conundrum?

We thought we would have to live with this ensuite for a few years, but a little windfall means we can change it!

I have found a modern free standing bath that fits into a corner. Part of me thinks it is the answer. Part of me thinks it is naff.

How about a freestanding bath at an angle? Or would it be a cleaning nightmare?

We would love a shower, but I really don't see a way of doing it.

Is there any way of having a shower in the middle where there is full head height?

Would this help? There's a photo of one in a loft space like that
I have one

I am not normally a fan of freestanding baths that are up against walls as cleaning under and behind them is a nightmare, but the one in the link looks great.
On the other wall I would have a back to the wall loo with a concealed cistern and a nice counter top basin.

SushiMonster · 07/12/2018 12:50

Agreed the corner bath in the link looks really smart

wonkylegs · 07/12/2018 13:20

Generally I'd say no but the one in the link, fitted in that way seems nice.
Our house had a freestanding bath when we moved in and it was a nightmare. It was style over substance. It was very uncomfortable, water got everywhere if the kids ever went in it, it was a nightmare to clean behind and took up so much space for something that wasn't actually that big when you got in it. I hated it and was very glad to get rid of it and get a decent fitted bath that I could lie down in.

Corner baths are a pain to clean though, unless you have really long arms.

YorkshireIndie · 07/12/2018 14:35

PepperJack is that bath comfortable to sit in?

BubblesBuddy · 07/12/2018 14:54

I would just have it as a walk in shower although head height isn’t good. Also the radiator is in the way! You don’t have the headroom at either end and anything that isn’t straight is annoying.

Freestanding doesn’t work in that space. Just tank the whole lot and walk in. Stepping into a high sided tank bath doesn’t appeal to me and head height is a problem with any shower/bath unless you put it in the middle of the room. Could you do this and have storage in the eaves end?

I guess that is an eaves cupboard door behind the bath? I think maybe the room needs a total rethink because whatever you do is a compromise.

loveka · 07/12/2018 15:24

Yes, the whole thing will be changed.

On the other side is a dressing room (same size and shape)

I have considered knocking them together, but there still wouldn't be room for a shower!

You can't stretch out in it, but it's really deep, they do have bigger ones

The bath you’ve found is smart and helps with cleaning but it is teeny - only 1550 long. It’s probably deeper and wider than normal to compensate, but it will still be very much a sitting up bath. See if you can find it in a showroom somewhere first to try it out.

Do you have a floorplan? —I love floorplan challenges—

MynameisJune · 07/12/2018 17:54

The bath you linked to is nice but it’s tiny, in reality how much will you use it? Is there a bath in the main bathroom? Frustrating that there are doors on either side where you could put a shower.

ivykaty44 · 07/12/2018 18:07

I would build a ledge behind the bath to pull the bath out into the room - then have an overhead shower with a shower curtain all the way round

ivykaty44 · 07/12/2018 18:25

Or get a full width shower tray and put the shower near the door and a screen across

Build a fake half wall and tile inside the shower

ivykaty44 · 07/12/2018 18:28

Personally I wouldn’t go for wet room in the attic due to leaks occurring - thus a large shower tray
