Honeywell wireless thermostat problems

Sorry for the rather boring thread.
This is the second time I have had one of these expensive thermostats die on me and having done some research it's not an uncommon problem.
Rather than shell out £75 quid (cheapest price by a mile) I am wondering if I can replace it with a similar but more reliable model, given it doesn't need wiring in.
I did email Honeywell in the vague hope they would send me a new one but am not very hopeful as its a few years old.
Does anyone have any ideas or alternative suggestions - secretly hoping PigletJohn might be lurking...

I did just find a repair service on ebay for these units which might be worth a punt

Try plum centre own brand wireless room stat £56, recommended by dh heating engineer.

We got one fitted today and don't bloody understand it. Watching with interest. The manual is translated and shite

AFAIK Honeywell are as good as you can get

but wireless controls are never going to be as reliable as wired ones. Maybe the batteries will run down, maybe there will be radio interference from your neighbour's arc-welder or her similar thermostat, maybe your wifi router or your baby alarm or your remote control car blipper or your microwave or the thickness of your walls will stop it working. Sometimes it helps to fit new batteries (preferably lithium), sometimes it helps to find the instructions and re-learn the transmitter and receiver to each other.

I bet you won't find many people complaining that their wired-in wall stat has gone wrong, even when its 50 years old.

Having two of these thermostats go wrong after only a few years use is a bit odd. I have had wired thermostats before and have never had an issue.
I have changed the batteries but am looking into getting the stat repaired rather then replaced.
