Which house to buy?

Hi would like to have some advice. Two properties in the same area. Identical layout. Roughly same price. Neither has front driveway. But both have private parking for 2 cars in the back.

The main difference are:

Property 1
Mid terrace
South-east facing garden
House freehold, but garage at the back on 999 years lease
Can park on the kerb front door
on a chain (seller found a property without further upwards chain)

Property 2
End terrace
East facing garden
freehold garage at the back
can't park front door (double yellow line)
not on a chain (let out currently)
closer to main road (roughly double? the traffic noise level in the garden)

Well, House 1 is about half mile from the motorway and is shielded by other houses from traffic noises, House 2 is about 150 m closer to the motorway, but in a much more exposed position, hence the noise.

Garden is about the same size.

Both houses are good value, as similar houses in this area have been selling a few every week.

Why wait till April? How will brexit effect house prices?

I’d research the dementia risks & asthma, no one is going to be able to escape pollution but some places will be worse than others

I’d research the dementia risks & asthma Ohhhh, no need to worry about that. The environment friendly diesel engine emission will kill all of us by then!

It depends what the area is like- I’d avoid end of terrace in some areas as more vulnerable to break ins and more likely to subside in others. I also don’t like people looking over the garden fence as they walk past Grin

1 definitely sounds better

You don't own the garage in 1. You will only lease it, albeit for 999 years.
Given those terms you might think that doesn't sound like too much of a problem, but do yourself a favour and read up on the misery other leaseholders have had with leasehold properties. The FH of the garage can dictate terms which would irk me no end. Just so you know, when you lease a property, you have all the responsibility and cost of upkeep etc, but none of the freedom to do with it what you want. So if you're thinking of extending etc, that will not be without its challenges, given the LH characterisation.
