We're getting a new bathroom put in and I'd love to hear any tips based on what you did.

Any really great ideas?

Anything to avoid/wish you'd done differently?

Thank you!

The bath is a freestanding one with the tap in the wall. The bathroom shop persuaded me just get a tap there and no shower hose (for washing hair) as he said kids would just spray the bathroom with it (no screen as separate shower). It's so annoying and I regret taking this advice and wish I had a shower hose and tap. It's a pain washing kids hair when they have a bath without it.

we have a waterfall style shower head but I also insisted on a conventional style showerhead with hose that you could lift out as well

We did this in ours and had them mount the showerhead that could lift out on a grab bar that met health and safety standards so met both needs at once.

Tiling the bath panel looks fantastic but is a bigger when you get a leak and need to investigate Angry

Yep, shower hoses are essential. Even if it's just so you can clean the tub easily.

I would say a big no to tiled floors, they are cold (unless underfloor heating), slippery and prone to crack.

We are getting a new bathroom in Jan and getting a rubber floor www.harveymaria.com/Floor-Range/Rubber/Fossil-Grey

Havent read all the replies but things I have done and liked are

mirror cabinet with in built sensor light and charger inside for toothbrushes
lights on dimmers
good extractor fan
warm flooring (padded vinyl or similar)
large heated towel rail with electric/summer option
plenty of storage
hooks on doors
mixer taps
Aqualisa digital shower
tiled niche for toiletries next to bath
pale grey grout
Laufen loo
shutters on window
