New bathrooms price?

Anyone know ballpark figure for fitting of new bathroom - loo, sink' bath, shower over bath, tiling, floors, extractor fan, painting, floor etc. Ie whole bathroom. Parts and labour. Have no idea! Not basic but a small bathroom, with fairly high spec fittings. One of those sinks on a cupboard etc and shelving etc. Small flat so need functional and good use of limited space..

We’re just about to have ours done. The room is 2.3 x 2.6 metres and we’ll be paying £5K for labour and just under £4K for materials (including the suite).

We are keeping everything in the same location, so nothing too major to do plumbing wise, just a standard refit. The labour quote is for the following:
Skip hire,
Rip out of old bathroom inc floor to ceiling tiles,
Fitting of new WC unit, free standing bath, quadrant shower, basin vanity unit, 4 spot lights and extractor fan,
Replastering,
Half height tongue and groove wall panelling,
Tiling of shower area,
Laying of new floor (Amtico),
Painting (ceiling, walls and panelling)

We’re getting ours done in Jan. small bathroom - 2m by 3m. Literally like for like fitting so bath, shower over bath, loo and sink. Labour includes removal of existing bathroom incl full tiles, fitting of everything, plastering (but not painting) walls, tiling shower and sink area, fitting floor (vinyl tiles) new ceiling and spotlights. Labour is 2k, all stuff approx 3k. Including skip hire etc
Though we’ve not actually had it done yet so I suspect it’ll be approx 500 over that for sundries.
We’re in north west England for context

well 5 -7 k all in fitted if you can find someone as its mostly labour costs and they probably want to earn a living.

jq28 · 02/12/2018 21:48

Don't go to bathstore they quoted my mum £8.5k for an en suite!
Had the exact same thing fitted by an independent plumber bathroom fitter including electrician to fit a pump for less than £4K.

fuzzyduck1 · 02/12/2018 21:55

I’d say 2-4K labour costs then it’s how much you want to pay for the fittings. Be it £300 for a bog in a box from b&q or gold taps etc.

You can spend a couple of hundred to several thousand on the actual suite depending on what you would like. Fitting can vary but I'd say about £3k average.
You can buy everything online and save but if you have no idea what you're looking for a good showroom and someone to help you plan it can be really useful. Places like city plumbing, plumb centre and Graham's can be a good place to look as you're likely to get someone that can help with the design but also a bit of knowledge on the actual workings of the bathroom. They are plumbers merchants but look for one with a showroom. Don't be off of by the prices either - it's unlikely you'll ever pay the price shown - trust me I'm a showroom manager for one of these places haha.
Places like this will likely price match online too.

Thanks all. I was hoping 5k max. 9k milly seems awful steep. We had our kitchen fitted last year for 10k which is 3x th size. I guess a less complicated job though....

Yes, £9k does seem steep, but if we were to take the wood panelling out of the equation and go for half tiling instead then labour would be £4K.

You probably could get all your materials and suite for £1k. So I’d say £5k is definitely doable if you’re not too bothered about a high end suite or tiles.

Wow that’s a great day rate you’re paying your plumber there... assuming VAT registered but that’s still about £500 a day Shock millymolluly

PurpleFlowersInMyHair · 03/12/2018 22:47

Day rate for a very very good plumber should be £250 max.

It will take a week to fit and finish a standard sized family bathroom with shower bath, including flooring and tiles (about 6-8 sqm worth). A couple days more to plaster and paint. Obviously more if building work is being completed.

It really shouldn’t take longer than 2 weeks so that’s £3k Max for labour inc VAT. Any more than that and they are making a very tidy profit out of you Grin

PurpleFlowersInMyHair · 03/12/2018 22:52

Just spotted your note about panelling millymolly so the price seems more reasonable- guessing they’ll be around for 3 weeks then (or equivalent depending on staffing)

MillyMolly123 · 04/12/2018 05:54

Yes, 3 weeks. The £5k also includes skip hire, 4 bathroom spotlights, a new extractor fan, plastering and painting. So, quite a lot.

Also, the actual bathroom fitter comes highly recommended and his previous work looks incredible. We’ve paid much less in the past and the end result showed it. Never again!

We've had various bathrooms done over recent years and are about to start another.

Bathroom 1 is just under 3m square. Gut existing room. Floor to ceiling tiling (not real stone), quadrant shower, free standing bath, new toilet and pedestal sink but didn't move their location new light, new extractor fan, painting ceiling and coving, install replacement radiator. That cost just under 5k four years ago.

bathrooms 2 and 3 (en suites) one is 3m x 2.4 m one is 2m square. Both had wood panelling and tiling. cost there was about 5k for the two but we bought everything in the sale and to be honest the cheap labour shows. I wish we'd spent an extra grand and had better workmanship.

bathroom 4 (master bedroom ensuite 3.5m x 2.5m) will be bought in the sales after christmas. I'm aiming for about 6k all in but am hunting for a good fitter.
