Please recommend me a range cooker

I currently have a dual fuel Falcon, which I love. It's 12 years old and looks brand new. My partner hates it though.

We are moving to an electricity only area. My range can't be adapted so I have to leave it be hung (sob. I ADORE it)

So, I need a new range. I can spend up to 4k.

I am tempted by a reconditioned all electric aga.

Partner wants to get a Stoves. I can't find anywhere to actually see them, and I'm worried it won't be as good as my Falcon, ie not as solid or, I admit, as beautiful.

I don't want an aga that stays on all the time, mainly as I don't want to have to have 2 cookers in the kitchen. So the all electric version would be my only option. It would just be for the 'look' of an aga.

What would you recommend? Thanks.

We got a rangmaster 90 . If I'm being honest , I wouldn't recommend . When we change our kitchen we will also change the oven. We will be going away from ranges.

We bought an everhot four years ago which It has a timer so can be set to come on when you need it. We run it on eco overnight and during the morning. It then comes up to temperature (I cook everything on 200) for dinner. It has a standard aga type hob on one side and an induction hob on the other. There's a good Facebook group if you want more information.

DO NOT, in any circumstances, buy a Britannia range oven. We paid over £4K for ours eight years ago and have had to have it repaired on average every 18 months. It's cost us over £1k in repairs and callout charges so far. The main oven broke down three weeks before Christmas two years ago and I ended up cooking Christmas dinner for eight in the small oven (which is quite small), as Britannia couldn't repair it in time for Christmas - the guy they finally sent out didn't bring the right part.
The main oven stopped working again three weeks ago and we are still arguing with Britannia, who want to charge us £250 to come out and fix it. We have had enough and are asking for a refund or a replacement (I'd prefer a refund).
Dimplex, the company which owns Britannia, also own Stoves, so I'd keep away from them as well.

I've had 2 Stoves Sterling models and no problems with either. First was a mini one - 60cm - as space was tight. Then got a 100cm dual fuel when we re-did the kitchen. Can't comment on other brands but it's been reliable and cooks well. But does have a gas hob so haven't tried an electric only version.

We have a Stoves Sterling induction range and I love it.

I 'inherited' a Stoves range oven when we moved house last year. Looks good. I hate it. I really hate it. (it's like this one www.stoves.co.uk/products/cooking/range-cookers/richmond-deluxe-s1000df/)

  1. The ovens are small - I had to buy all new pans/trays to fit.
  2. The rack spacing isn't flexible enough. The oven has 'telescopic' shelves which are great, if they are suitably-placed. However, you can't change the position of those telescopic arms, so if you need to move your rack, you still have to fight the buggers when moving stuff out of the oven.
  3. If you don't use the fixed-in-place telescopic shelves, there's nothing to stop the racks pulling all the way out. Came as a bit of a shock the first time I pulled out a roasting tray to baste the meat :( Luckily, potential disaster averted.
  4. Eight burners is, for me and I suspect most people, overkill. Plus they are really crammed together, so it can be a pain if you're using larger pans.
  5. The enamel has to be treated very, very carefully. No abrasives, no steam cleaner. (My old AEG enamelled hob had had 20 years of ill-treatment and still looked as good as new)
  6. Minor thing - but the instructions (the ones left for me and what I can find online) are not good. Very vague. I'm still trying to work out if there's a way to find out when the oven's up to temp.

Once we're over the disruption (not to mention the cost) of having the whole house redecorated, I'm going to start working on DH to replace it with something like the Smeg A2Bl-8 www.smeg.com/product/cooker/a2bl-8/

Our rangemaster 110 induction/electric range looks lovely but within first year one of the induction jobs started playing up and we can't be bothered to fork out for the repair (and we figured out ways to work with it).
