Mizzle Farrow and Ball cupboards - but walls??

To all mumsnetters that know far more about colour than me (complete lack of ability to visualise anything in advance!). Our new kitchen is nearly at an end but I am stuck on the walls, please help with your ideas.

I've settled on mizzle for simple shaker style units, the work tops are white marble style with grey veining (caesarstone white attica). The floors are mid to light oak. The room has several windows but is not particularly light and bright due to position.

Now need to decide the walls - I've looked at shaded white, read on the F&B website that the complementary white is wimborne white, considered dimpse and am now all over the place with almost any of the colours - going lighter, darker, greyer with no clue! Any thoughts/ideas would be more than gratefully received...

I would go for the Wimborne White it will brighten up the room and its classic.
We had the same problem with our kitchen being a bit dull due to position and ended up doing the opposite having the cabinets lighter with a colour on the wall and all woodwork white and the difference just to have a lighter colour in the room was massive.

We have Wimborne white in our kitchen and a big mirror painted in Mizzle, they do go very nicely together and Wimborne White is bright whilst also being warm.

Go into the F&B shop with some photos - they are really helpful at advising.

I have Mizzle on the walls in my Study with White Tie on the ceiling and woodwork.

White Tie is a beautiful soft white and I think it tones well.

The one thing I do feel about Mizzle is that it came up much darker than I had anticipated and really sucks the light out of my room. The room is north facing, which may be relevant. In strong daylight the room is fine but in the late afternoon / evening it feels a bit gloomy.

It should be better in your kitchen if surrounded by a lot of white, but given that it will be difficult to change, I would be doing some large tester boards to check it out.

I would go for pure brilliant white - it will provide a cleaner more modern look when paired with mizzle.

Don’t go with Lime White and Mizzle. We have Pointing and Mizzle in a bathroom. The Mizzle is on the wall wooden panels. Pointing makes it warm. We have Wimborne white on the door frame, ceiling and skirting board. I’ve always been happy with this combination.

Thank you bubbles, can I ask is there a reason you'd avoid like white with mizzle?

catmum50 · 07/12/2018 15:38

Doh lime not like...

If you want another option, Slate II from Paint & Paper Library also goes well. It’s less creamy than Wimborne White and slightly more grey.

Just to let you know what we went with in the end as I'm sat here enjoying my new clean perfect kitchen (even after the christmas chaos). We used lime white because my dh was adamant he didn't want it 'grey' (I have greyified much of the rest of the house- shaded white, elephants breath etc....). At first I didnt like it as it is quite yellow (and imo looks a little old fashioned especially with the mizzle) but I have warmed to it (couldn't afford to repaint so no option really Smile) - and I genuinely do like it now, it has kept the room warm and bright although I wouuld go with something else next time Grin. Thanks all.

Lime white is a yellow/green white and Mizzle is a calm pale sea green/blue with no yellowish tone. We quite like the warm tone of Pointing. Wimborne White would work but gives a more clinical finish.
