I’m in need of a new rug but not sure what to look for, quality wise. My living room rug looks quite worn, even though I’ve only had it for just over a year. Would you say that’s a normal ‘lifespan’? It’s had a good clean (scrubbed etc) but it hasn’t really ‘come back to life’
I got it off Wayfair for nearly £100 so not that cheap (I don’t think atleast)
There’s only 2 of us in the house, so it’s not as though it gets trampled. We don’t wear shoes in the house. We literally just step on it in socks to get to the sofas.
We do have cats but they seem to walk around the rug rather than on it, so I can’t blame them either! I think it’s just the quality of this one
Theres a massive difference between the edges and the bit under the coffee table that’s never been stepped on. The middle is much more puffed up. (I’ll see if it will show on a photo if I cba to move the table)
It’s a flat rug rather than shaggy, as I’ve found shaggy rugs to be difficult to clean in the past. My mum had one of those shiny, shaggy rugs which I thought was nice, but after a while the fibres(?) just got flat and matted so I’m not too keen on that look either tbh.
I have a small shaggy one in the spare room, which again is a pain to hoover as its become matted so bits stick to it. So I’m really not sure what to go for next.
Should I look for particular materials? Styles?
I realise this isn’t the most exciting thread, so thanks in advance if anyone answers!
