Does anyone have the Nest Learning Thermostat or similar?

Thinking of getting one for DH for Christmas and just wondered what people thought of it. Is it actually useful?

We have a Nest, it’s fantastic.

We have had one for about three years. We ran it in learning mode for a while but it was doing very odd things, like turning the heating on to 21 degrees at 3am. It made us ill in the end so we just use it as a normal thermostat now.

I hate mine, I just can't figure out how to use it. User error obviously but there are no instruction and it's not user friendly enough for an old gimmer like me to work out.

Little go to support on the app, there’s loads of help and instructions.

It’s not hard though, it’s fairly intuitive.

Didn’t your installers give you an overview?

Ours certainly doesn’t switch on at 3am!

It’s pretty easy to set up a timetable.

We have one but also work shifts and both different shifts so it would never learn anything! I just use it as a normal thermostat.

We have a nest and love it! So useful being able to operate it from your phone.

Looked at Nest but could not see how it would work for us with different times at home, childcare for DGC etc.
Went for the Honeywell Evo Home, much more granular ( individual radiator control). It’s proved to be an absolute godsend, Alexa voice control for different profiles is amazing.
Took a bit more setting up than Nest would have done but much more use ability.

We've got 3! One for the kitchen (underfloor heating), one for the rest of the ground floor and one for upstairs. I absolutely love it. Switching the heating on when you're on the way home (or switching it off remotely). I'm sure it's saved us lots of money as well.
