Hi I have lights by my front door (GU10 globes i think), Can I somehow make them go on at a certain time whiteout replacing the light?

If you went down the SMART route you could. Philips Hue have a GU10 light bulb that through the app you could set to a timer.
They have released a series of outdoor lights which are many pennies, but prior to this lots of people used the indoor bulbs outdoors if their outdoor lights were sealed.

If they have an indoor lightswitch that can see daylight, you can change it for one that comes on at dusk and turns off after xx hours of your choice, or when it gets light.

Or you could fit an outdoor photocell,or lamps incorporating one

anyway, change the lightbulbs for LED or energy saving so that running cost is trivial.

thanks. I think that I will try the Phillips HUE to start with

I just happen to have bought two bulbs that (as long as the indoor light switch is left on) will go off in daylight and on at dusk (outside). I got them from the internet (look on Amazon) and it cost £11.00 (inc. pp) for the two.

Lidl had dusk till dawn bulbs for £4 each

We've replaced the light fitting to accommodate these so running costs are negligible

thanks Alice. I just bought some off amazon, I might as well give them a go.
