I've done so much pinteresting and found some amazing photos but worried they will not be achievable in the real world.. so please share some real life examples?

We're buying our first house and of course have had to compromise somewhere, so we went with inside space, character and location but unfortunately the Victorian terraces in the area all have small overlooked backyards.. also feeling rubbish because our lovely golden retriever adoooores grass so much, as in she'll find a patch when we're out on a walk and just roll and lie down on it- am i a terrible person for not giving her grass?!?! Although we will be near the beach and i think she loves sand even more, and she does get plenty of exercise, and at the moment we're in a flat with a rubbish back yard so I suppose she won't know what she's missing.. but i've just got this niggle in my head, but then again we could not afford the same style and size of house if it had grass! We did buy some awful artificial grass when we first got her (breeder said we should but since have really regretted it for environmental reasons and also because it STANK so we're not doing that again..)

Such a rambling post, but yes please make me feel better with photos of your lovely backyards (and if anyone has ever planted some grass over concrete to give their dog a nice place to lie please share your stories..!!)

Ooh, following. I also have a Victorian terrace with small yard. It’s just boring decking at the moment but I’d love to spruce it up in spring.

When I was about to sort out a very tiny, very neglected garden, I looked at a lot of garden makeover/landscape gardeners' websites. There were loads of 'before and after' shots, including quite a few of very small back yards/dank basement yards, etc., - the transformations were often astonishing. Well worth a look for ideas.

The companies were all in the London area, where tiny and often dark/overlooked outside spaces are common.

Oo that sounds good, had a quick google and had no luck finding a company, don’t suppose you remember any of the websites?
