Hi we are about to embark on a bathroom refit, not moving anything too much, tiloilet and sink staying in the same place, batg moving down the wall a bit and incorporating an over bath shower. Any advice on things you did or wish you had or mistakes to avoid?

Me too

We did ours in March this year.

I'm glad we put in a good extractor fan and that we used big tiles and grey grout (never looks dirty!).

Everyone says you need a separate radiator as well as a towel rail but our towel rail throws the heat out absolutely fine.

Also really glad we got waterfall taps, a huge shower head and a separate detachable hand shower thing as well as the big fixed shower head, makes it so easy to clean.

Good luck! Smile

I'm thinking heated towel rail and underfloor heating.

@MrsTerryPratcett yeah I would've had underfloor heating if I could've swayed DH!

Also think about storage, I'm glad we got a big cabinet that stores all of our toiletries neatly out of sight. Hate seeing shampoo bottles etc all over the edge of a bath.

We did our bathroom in may this year.
We went with a towel rail and waterfall taps, I love them.
We also went with metro tiles and slate grey grout, I wanted black but the tiler said it was a nightmare to apply and that it can fade and look blotchy.
We got a fully removable loo seat, it’s so easy to clean, it just clicks off.

Definitely get some storage under the sink.

The best thing we got was a shower where the hose is covered in plastic. No more wasted hours with a toothbrush cleaning between the grooves on the hose. Ours is a lovely Grohe shower

Double shower - big overhead and a hand held hose-y one.
Biggest cupboard you can fit in.
Grey grout.
If you possibly can, get a shelf niche thing tiled into the wall like this: homesfeed.com/built-in-shower-shelves/ - much better than metal ones screwed on.
We had wooden panelling instead of tiles (apart from in the shower!) - feels much less sterile. Like this: theenglishpanellingcompany.co.uk/
Oh, and a 1800mm bath - it's bliss being able to completely submerge!
