Temporary house share and council tax

Hi,
I'm looking to rent a room (through spare room.com) for 2 months. I already pay full ct on my own house.

I had a message from a potential landlord saying that as I'm not a student I would have to pay an additional £120 a month. Is this right? All the other places I've looked at are including bills.

I've binned that one off anyway, if they're going to make me council tax for the whole house.

Students are exempt from council tax.

Yes, assuming the rest of the household were students, they wouldn’t need to pay council tax. Therefore if you moved in, you would be liable for the CT, presumably at a discounted rate of 75%.

So I'd pay council tax for 2 households despite only living in one? Ugh!

You may be able to claim a rebate on your current home , why are you leaving?

I'm doing training for work and I can't get there on a daily basis, so it's more sensible to temporarily move up there. I'll be coming back every 6 days so it's not like a real move.

Maybe check out AirBnB rooms in houses for 4 nights a week since it’s so temporary. Saves you getting involved with any council tax sillyness.
