How do you get these handles off the bath without damaging it?

Basically, we want to change our bath taps to chrome.

Currently, they are the same colour as the bath handles shown, so we need to change these to match the new bath taps.

Obviously, we don’t want to damage the bath, so how do we go about removing them carefully to replace them?

If you take the panel off the bath they might be held in place with nuts which you can unscrew.
The other way they can be fixed is with little screws on the underside of the handle. If you run your finger along the handle you'd be able to feel the holes close to where it's fixed to the bath.
If your bath is against a wall the handle on the wall side could be really tricky to get off.
Good luck!

Thanks CC4490, yes there is one against the wall. Hmm, could be tricky then.
We’ll take a look, thanks. Hopefully, we can find handles the same size...they have been in since 1997.

I'd hazard a guess that roca handles would fit but I'd measure them to be sure.
You can get them in plumbers merchants, they're normally kept in stock. (I'm a bathroom designer for a plumbers merchant not just weirdly clued up on bath handles )

Ooh, thank you, very helpful, we’ll look at Roca handles.

I didn’t think for a second you were a bath rail anorak or anything like that 😄.

I bet you 50p you won't be able to change the one against the wall. Learn to live with them.

Consider yourself lucky you haven't got a faulty bath tap there.

Pinterest has a few articles about painting these...but not my skills set.

Updating to say we have agreed to rip the old bathroom furniture out and have it replaced, well, it is over 20 years old...

I agree with the advice that the handle next to the wall will be difficult to remove.

Plus Dh now has a job with a well known DIY store and he will receive a discount, sooo.....
