Keep a shower or put in a bath?

Just as the title suggests really. Purchased a house owned by a lady with mobility issues. The shower was big enough to have a old down seat. However, it is big enough for a bath. Do we upgrade the shower or put in a bath? We are at odds. I say bath, DH says shower to keep costs down. All advice is gratefully received.

Why not an over-bath shower? That’s the norm in most one-bathroom houses.

That's what I was thinking. I forgot to add the shower over the bath bit. Blush

Shower over bath.

You never know when you might need to avoid getting certain body parts wet or just fancy a soak.

Shower over bath. I think it's a must.

We bought a house with only a shower and the bathroom looked too small to put a bath in but I was determined!

Turns out the shower over bath option made the bathroom look and feel bigger and I got my bath after all.

I wouldn't buy a house without it now as putting it in was a ballache though.

We bought a Villeroy & Boch rectangular bath with an area to stand at one end for a shower. If you look at Libra this will give you an idea.

Thank you everyone. I will show DH this thread and what you have all said.

I’d keep the shower only but put in a brand new shower cubicle. We all only take showers here and it wouldn’t put me off looking at a house with no bath of there was space to put one in etc. Build the bathroom for what you want not want future people want

Bath

Look at shower baths they have extra space

Bath screen and panel are around £200 with 10 year guarantee if you look at online suppliers
Worth it for famillies who have small children

Bath with shower over it.

Some baths have really steep sides so you get more “standing space” (sorry I don’t know how to explain it better). Usually the drawings with the measurements will tell you the width of the standing area as well as the external dimensions, etc
