Prices for DIY kitchens vs Ikea vs Benchmarx

I'm looking for a small run of units for a utility room. I was intending Ikea or Benchmarx but really like the DIY in frame ones and the fact I could choose the colour... but not sure I can justify it if it's way more £.

Can anyone save me the job of costing up and tell me roughly how much more I will spend on DIY in frame vs Ikea or Benchmarx? Eg am I looking at 15% more or double?!

Thanks!

You need to do the leg work and price them up on a like-for-like basis. We don't know what style you are going for, how many units, etc.

DIY kitchens have a minimum order value of £750. I wanted to use them for my tiny laundry room but couldn’t get to that amount, only three cupboards. They wouldn’t budget so didn’t consider them for the kitchen we're doing at the moment.

DIY was double the IKEA for price for me. If you are looking only cupboards with shelves, it may not be double. It's drawer units, end panels etc which are more expensive.

Highly dependent on what units you choose. Our 17 units were 25% more with DIY than ikea but we went for a much cheaper range than the inframe ones, which I think are mostly real timber doors and painted.

The tall units at Wickes were vastly more expensive than either DIY or IKEA but not sure how Benchmark compares to Wickes on price. I don't think there is a substitute for pricing up exactly what you want I'm afraid. Inframe, painted, real wood is a very high end finish for a utility and I wouldn't expect that to be same ballpark as most IKEA options.

Have you considered buying a cheaper range and using end panels to give a sort of inframe effect?

Thanks, useful info, sounds like I will need to cost up properly especially to see if I get to the minimum order (thank you Rshard).

Suspect I may end up letting go of the inframe idea, just realised it is less space efficient as wall as more costly and in this utility every mm will count!
