I’ve just bought 6 from Best Heating. Only had one installed so far but really love it. Plumber said it was cosmetic and wouldn’t be as effective as a normal Rad but I’ve noticed a big difference already.

My friend also just got some from Soak and she is really happy with those. Don’t know how they compare on price but I thought mine were good value.

This a 2 column one. My others are 3 column but I needed this one to be slim as it’s by the front door.

My living room has a stupidly small rad in it, and I am wanting to install a tall vertical radiator.

Can I just swap them over ( or get a plumber to do it) if they are the same width?

Best heating here too. They were great and love my tall rads

Mine are also from best heating and my plumber asked for the link to get them for his house too!

@sdaisy26 I would like one like that but a bit wider - can it be used as a replacement for a shorter one - I will post pic.

I am pretty ignorant about these things but also a bit skint. And cold. So any advice is appreciated.

This is the one I want to replace with big nice looking rad.

I guess I need to paint the wall first

I would also like to replace small rad in bathroom with one that goes up the wall and has built in towel rail.

We were recommended the brand Alcova or Acova - which we got from Screwfix if I remember correctly. Absolutely brilliant.

sdaisy26 · 26/10/2018 14:27

@theclitterati ours went in different places from the old rads but yes in theory I think you could put it where a lower rad has been - it’s just about the pipes being in the right place.

We have that thin 2 column one to fit by the breakfast bar then a much wider 3 column (comes a bit further in to the room but not much) on an otherwise useless bit of wall on the other side of the room. It’s a pretty big room (60m2) and lovely and warm.

I’ve got mainly cast iron rads and they’re far better than the 1980s/90’s fin ones they replaced I added an extra 1000 btus a room.

I’ve used Acova before which were good. Word of warning screwfix sometimes get a mishandled batch so please check them all for comestic damage before the plumber arrives.

Also you may need an additional expansion vessel for 12 column radiators a standard boiler will power 80/100 litres with suffficent expansion within the inbuilt unit. One of my rads has 50 litres in it alone!

Another vote for best heating here. My house is now warm and looks good too. 😀

user1499523365 · 26/10/2018 19:57

Thanks so much. Have screenshot this and sent to plumber. Looked at Acova but they have a white part on side, not silver. I like the exposed silver part on the Best Heating ones. It's a 1950's house. I hope they're going to look OK!

We need @Pigletjohn.

My question to PJ is, how hard is it for a pro to move radiators?
