A wetroom in upstairs bathroom - sensible?

I've always fancied a wetroom as a bathroom. We have a small (less than 2m x 2m) upstairs bathroom, with atm painted ply over (poor) floorboards as the flooring.

The bathroom is on the to do list, would it be realistic ie safe/watertight to have an upstairs wetroom? I've panicked imaginings of the shower leaking into the kitchen below!

We have a wet room and we’re on the 5th floor, I don’t think it’s an issue.

We have one. The floor is tanked so that it doesn't leak.

Ta. I guess when I asked that there'd be flats and stuff with them. I'm worried about the wooden floor flexing and (slight) house movement owing to the stuff the house is built on (greensand).

Have just seen you can get what look like shower trays but fit under the floor, floor formers.

We had two bathrooms replaced last year and we had loads of quotes. Everyone, apart from one really kamikaze guy, was really reluctant to do a wet room. They said even with the trays they are prone to leaking so we just went for the very thin shower tray slightly sink so it’s almosy flush to the floor. I also now think it’s just more grout to clean so am glad we didn’t go for one. Having said that I’ve never come across anyone who actually has one who has had any problems with it.

hey we have a wet room
The flooring is industrial style vinyl over the floor tray so there is not the miles of grout to clean or to leak. The semi non slip option. The vinyl is curved up the walls, about 3" so no chance of leaks.
Just got to make sure the fall in the floor takes the water to the drain.
Love it.
So quick to wash.
All the family like it.
No claustrophobic of being in a small glass cubicle.

We have one in our bedroom which is a loft conversion. It's fine.

We recently stayed in a friend's newly renovated house which had a wet room on the 1st floor. The floor was tiled but the did have a glass shower screen between to shower area and the rest of the bathroom - room was huge so this didn't make the shower area small. It all seemed to work fine.

We have recently ripped out a bath and put in a full length shower tray with a screen down the side. Our bathroom is much smaller than out friends and previous experience of staying in a holiday cottage with a wet room put me off doing ours open plan. When DS got in there it certainly was a 'wet' room - we had to mop the floor and dry the toilet before anyone could use it!

Thanks for the opinions, I'll see what fitters say when I get some quotes too. Would definitely be having some sort of glass screen though.

Need to think of practicalities too like using an over bath shower atm without really thinking about it the bath sides get used to lean on washing. Need to try an visualise some 'ledges' at one end or both...
