Kitchen - blank canvas help needed

Within the next year or so, we are going to start knocking our house around in order to create a big kitchen, dining, living room but I can't work out what should go where.

I am an avid follower of the advice in the various kitchen threads and I know what I want in the kitchen but I don't know how to split the space up. I have therefore attached below (I hope) an overview of the space. Our house is about 100 years old and the kitchen will be in a south facing room looking out onto the garden. I want a big table (ideally 12 seater), a decent sized island and space to sit and chill.

There is a bay window which I am pretty sure I want as an informal little eating area with built in bench seating. (Unless anyone convinced me otherwise).

The space is currently on two levels but it can all be raised so it is all one level, unless a step down is preferable. There will be a separate utility room, with a toilet, sink and space for taller items look mops and brushes. Washing machine and tumble drier are upstairs (highly recommend) so don't need space for them.

I am thinking kitchen across back wall and a bit down the side, island as you walk in and then table at far side then sofa/living bit in the green part. DH thinks table straight away as you enter the room - but I think that will be less sociable.

Other option is to have seating bit straight away, then island/kitchen then green bit for table.

First world problems I know but I have been so amazed by the ideas you all bring to a kitchen plan that i thought I'd see what you lovely ladies (aka nest of vipers) could come up with.

Many thanks

Note - diagram is very much not to any sort of scale.

(Apologies for typos)

Like the idea for the bay. And I'd definitely want the room all one level - could foresee disaster and pain with a step in the kitchen/dining area!

As for the rest, well with so much space you'll have fun...

Thanks sb. I know what you mean about the step. It would be me that feel down it the most I'm sure.
I had wondered about a step down into the sofa bit though. Thought that might be nice. We could step down onto the patio though I guess.

I would get an independent designer involved- they will be able to bring your ideas to life. Cheaper than making costly mistakes.

We’re going to use One Plan Houzz - it’s a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.

Thanks, Purple. I guess ultimately that's a good idea but it feels too far away to engage anyone right now. Perhaps in a year when we have the funds ready. Just looking for ideas and inspiration and perhaps things I hadn't thought of.
